lol. I hope next season is the season that he finally makes the leap to a contributor on this team.

So he wasn't a contributor last year? Right.

He was but not nearly enough to earn his contract. He became a liability in the playoffs and thats evident by his lack of playing time in the ECF and the FInals. Hopefully he continues to improve, because he did improve over the 2011 season. Some better footwork and a little more offense would be ideal.

The following is a response to you; nothing against Joel Anthony:

4 minutes in Game 6 against Boston.

2 minutes in Game 1 against OKC.

DNP in Game 7 vs Boston and Games 2-5 against OKC. Between G6 elimination vs Bos and Game 5 vs OKC, the Heat were 6-1 on the way to the 2nd title in that span that Joel's minutes were limited. It was one of the best adjustments Spo made. After 5 seasons, I think Spo wasn't going to risk a championship just to see if this was the year that Joel finally "got it".

I hope he does become a contributor next season, I truly do. But I'm not naive enough to believe that he was a contributor in our title run.

Exactly.

I don't think its about "getting it" with Joel. His limitations are just clear. He's not a strong defensive rebounder, he's a shaky catcher/finisher, but he'll work his ass off on D and make a big impact there and in hustle categories. Good regular season, and spot playoff minute guy, but not a championship run key cog.

Anyone feel UD is gonna bring back his jumper? We all saw what happened to him last year. I feel he is gonna be refreshed this comming season

I think and hope so. If he still struggles being an offensive threat, his minutes might decrease further with good ol' Battier doing his thing along with a possibly recharged Rashard Lewis. Let's hope the added competition will have a good effect on UD's jumper.

Its hard for me to see UD struggle with it for two years. We saw it come back for stretches last year, but it went away again.

As has been stated, he admitted (almost bragged) after the end of the lockout that he didn't touch a ball or weight all offseason, and simply worked on conditioning and band work. Well, that didn't work. Obviously, without a doubt, he's in the gym this summer hoisting J's. As far as we know he's not convalescing from an injury this time, so its the logical approach. His rebounding and grasp of our defensive system will always keep him at least on the outskirts of the rotation, unless Battier and Rashard have better-than-expected seasons, Miller stays in 4 pieces at the very most, and the Heat really take off with Chip Kelly ball.

The great thing about this upcoming year is we have guys like Dwyane, Ray, Rashard, UD, and even Shane trying to show they're better than they played at points last season, as well as Rio, Cole, and maybe Pitt, Harris, and other guys still improving. This is going to be a motivated title defender.

Although over all his jump shot was slacking last year, he really did hit some clutch jumpers for the team. I know hell work hard this off-season and get it back full time. He was still coming back from his injury. I'll always have faith in UD, man is a true warrior.

UD lost his jumper when he cut his hair  But yeah, him with his jumper back would be great.

i wouldn't be surprised if spo tries to get away with UD backing up bosh at the 5. he said it again last week, he wants to play even faster. i think joel will only be in the rotation when we're facing dwight, bynum and marc gasol.

i think this is what we'll see in november:
rio/norris
dwyane/ray
lebron/jj or mike (health)
battier/shard
bosh/UD or joel (match up)

Did anyone else read Bill Simmons' new article? He's finally gone insane. Russell Wilson leading the Seahawks to the Super Bowl in his first year?

Look at how much Joel played in the playoffs, especially the Finals where the games were at a really fast pace. UD isnt that slow and his ability to play defense, grab rebounds, and hopefully get that shot back make him much more valuable than Joel. Even without Joel on the floor they have 3 shot blockers in Bosh, James, and Wade. Plus in the Finals UD had some really clutch blocks. He aint going anywhere.

Funnily, Wade is the clear best shotblocker out of the three. UD did pull some wild blocks out of his arse. He's one of the least blocking PFs in the league.

I have that same line-up as my ideal one, but switching JJ with MM (Miller will retire if his health hampers him during the season), and possibly Shane with Shard. Battier only starts if the other options fall apart.

Which brings me back to UD. With how terrible his jumper was last year, I almost totally forgot about his finishing ability around the rim going from average to embarrassing. I was SHOCKED any time he hit a layup, guarded or WIDE OPEN. That was a major issue with him on the floor last season. Its not just the jumper that needs to come back, he needs his lift to recover, or whatever kept him from finishing at a half-decent rate.

Reading that Lance Thomas story, makes me think, what the hell is a MALE doing spending 100k on jewelry? You're in Duke, you have 30 grand on you somehow, and the first thing you think about is jewelry? You gay or something?

I understand some guys like watches, but when you're starting to wear fifty bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and **** like that, that is suspect to me.

I can barely walk around wearing jeans or a suit, it's usually basketball shorts and a t-shirt if I'm out somewhere. You won't ever see me putting more weight (jewelry) on me just to look "pretty".

I don't get it either, but I'm a basketball shorts, shirt, and watch bare minimum kinda guy also.

I don't like Serena Williams. IDK why, I just can't stand her as a tennis fan. Even as an American, I usually don't root for her if she makes the finals. Maybe it's because I grew up with Maria Sharapova as my favorite female tennis player? IDK. I don't feel the same way about Venus, I like her a lot better than her sister.

Speaking of jewelry, a relative of mine works in the field of watches. He sent me a text that he saw a store had sold over $600k in one day. When you see someone sell that good, you usually wonder who bought and what they bought. So, he checked out that store's sales from yesterday. Aaron Afflalo had when to the Millenia Mall in Orlando, and bought a $575,000 Rolex GMT Ice. IIRC, this is the most expensive Rolex around.

It made me wonder "Damn, if this is what role players/above average starters do with their money. then what does a star do with their money?" Lol. Hell, Dwyane Wade gets PAID to wear Hublot watches, LeBron James gets paid to wear Audemars Piguet watches, and Chris Bosh gets PAID to wear IWC watches. All three of them are luxury watch brands that can run reeeeeeally pricey. Roger Federer gets paid to wear **** Rolex for christ's sake lol.

if Stars get paid to wear these higher caliber jewelry, then I wonder, what do they exactly spend their money on that they do not get paid to wear? Lol.
