I know that we will have all 15 positions filled when the regular season starts.. BUT..

what do you guys think are the chances OKC are forced to amnesty Perk and the Heat grab him..
8-)

I mean that would be AMAZING.. I know I am reaching here... but isn't that a possible scenario???
Do you think the heat can go all out to get him then??? Does the heat still have the MLE?? or was that used up on Ray???

Do you think Perk will go for Miami?? Because many teams out there wouldn't mind a healthy perk on their team..

Everything's just fan speculation I know.. Humour me please..

PS: Sorry... can't post links as a new user.. umpteenth time am forgetting my password

Not sure if you're this clueless, or joking, but I'll humor you:

1. Its too late to amnesty players this offseason. I believe the deadline was Aug. 5th.

2. Its too early for OKC to have to worry about their cap

3. If he was amnestied, teams under the cap would have the chance to bid on him before he becomes a free agent. The Heat are not under the cap, and Perkins would not slip passed teams who are.

4. Perkins is awful anyway. Wouldn't want him here

Totally clueless man... thanks for taking the trouble.. never bothered about the CBA and amnesty clause etc.. :-?

Perkins was awful against our small ball approach.. Don't think he was that bad against LA or SA...

heat fans, stop trying to act like the worst fans in basketball. The OP asked a mostly unreasonable scenario, no need for all the venom.

Do not want. Halsem/Wade would jump his ass before he even step to practice.

C'mon guys, no need to pile it on. I would say though that Perkins wouldn't want to play with Lebron after he tweeted about Blake Griffin humiliating Perk with the dunk of the year, then Perk calling bron out as a coward or whatever happened

^^Lol. Calling someone a coward over twitter

Op, why do you think we actually won the championship? It's because perkins was a total, useless POS who couldn't rebound or defend a Bosh/Battier rotation

But you have to accept he is better than any of our centers.. Excluding Bosh..

We won because of our defense, Lebron and hot 3-pt shooting.. The help was always there on defense.. and we were extremely quick in covering positions.. defending the PnR etc.. that comes with small ball.. Perkins obviously wasn't quick enough and can't do anything against small ball.. But he was pretty good defensively in Boston..

Perkins helps us pursue a more traditional line-up when we need it.. so that Bosh and LeBron don't get worn out playing C and PF over the regular season and when playing against bigger teams.. Hence my idea and question..

However, as it has been pointed out rightly.. He can't be amnestied and we can't possibly go for him..

totally unreasonable idea and Perkins is a horrible fit for our offense. we dont adjust for anybody, the league will be forced to adjust to us.

and yeah, post was not worth an entire thread but I wouldn't be so harsh. and he owned his failure. relax. :D

Oh Jesus please take that back. Are you really with the "Thunder would've won if Collison played more" crowd? You don't win a series comfortably in 5 games because their role-playing center leaves much to be desired.

Collison and Ibaka are also useless POS's, so what's your point? Bosh proved to be the best big man in the series and lebron got the role players involved (something durant couldn't do). I'd say those are the two biggest reasons why we won

No, I don't have to accept that. I like Joel more because he's not a caveman on defense

Our defense didn't stop them from scoring. They posted a +10.5 offense which was better than their season average

Lebron...of course. I didn't even think it needed to be said. He's the best player in the world

:blank:

So, he was good in Boston and now he's bad in OKC? Why is that? Probably because he's not playing alongside Garnett..

Yup, he was definitely aided in Boston by their system and KG.

Is +10.5 referring to 10.5 ppg higher than their regular season average? I'm curious what that metric refers to, because if it is that it's deceptive. Pace affects ppg, and the Heat play a faster pace than most of the league, which would skew the average.

Fair enough. My qualms were with your initial statement to which I was replying, in which you said we won the championship because Perkins was inept. Perhaps you didn't mean to imply that was the principle reason, but it came across that way.

And honestly, I personally wouldn't be quick to deem an entire power rotation useless who tore through the playoffs the way they did (yes, I know that team is fueled by its perimeters, but to get to the finals you need to be solid in all facets), including against the Lakers and their twin towers. All 3 of those guys have MAJOR holes in their game, and as I stated in my first post, I think Perkins is dog dookie.

When I say +10.5 offense, I'm really saying a 110.5 Offense Rtg. So every 100 possessions they scored 110.5 points. Those numbers aren't skewed by pace because it represents the average of an offense per possession and not just the average points of an entire game.

Definitely not hat I meant, but I see the confusion.
