So what went wrong? Blowout vs the Knicks..

I don't care what anyone says. "Early season" "one game" etc. Whatever your excuse for our loss tonight is, I feel there is a flaw that was exposed tonight. I'm curious to what you guys think it is?
Few things I noticed. For one, Spolestra is doing absolutely no coaching like he didn't a lot last season. He doesn't adjust to what is happening in the game. He doesn't call plays for players who clearly need to get into the game. He not once called for a double team on Anthony. Bosh at one point took it upon himself to try and double team. He almost just let's the players do whatever they want. Although this is nothing new, I feel it is a huge downfall for the heat.
Secondly, our perimeter defense has been exposed. During the playoffs last season we shadowed Novak, tonight we looked like we had no on the fly adjustment and just let them shoot. This is where coaching comes in. Our aggressive pick and roll defense is our problem. This works most of the time but against a perimeter team we need to ADJUST. It leaves too many great 3 point shooters open.
I feel like as defending champs losing by 20 points to a first round knock out team is unacceptable and we need to fix something.
Thoguhts?

The Heat weren't ready to play. You could tell with their energy level and the way they played defense that they just flat out didn't care. I was expecting that at least Lebron would show up since he is one of the most consistent players ever but even he decided not to show up tonight.
If I were a Heat fan, I would expect a lot of coasting this season because teams that have recently won a title usually start to coast and become cocky.

Sounds like a cope out. Are you going to use that excuse every time the Heat get blown out?

It's not an excuse. It's the explanation as to why the Heat got blown out/lost tonight and probably will in the future.

HAHAHA GOOD ONE
They may of been better on the night but aren't on the Heat's level when both teams play their best

Are you going to use the "refs screwed us" excuse everytime the Knicks lose? Even Van Gundy and Breen pointed out that Miami state of mind wasn't in that game. Top it off, NY was shooting 3's like free throws tonight. fortunately for them, half went down out of their almost 40 attempts.

he Heat's state of mind changed when the Knicks would not relinquish the lead. It's called "front runners" disease.

Chances are that may be the Knicks last win against Miami this season if they can be bothered to turn up.

Front runner, like you talking smack on our forum after a game no one will remember in June when Miami hoists another title and Carmelo's watching from the comfort of his home? Fck outta here!

Did I stutter? Yes it was a joke which I posted on my own teams forum. I don't jump into wacky conspiracy theories like you Knicks fans do when my team loses.

Knick fans sure do get uppity after a regular season win. Win a title, better yet, win a playoff series before you start talking smack.

Like I said before. Its simple. We are the nba champs, and finalists 2 years ago.We have the best player in the league(LBJ), and team full of superstars.
EVERY team we play this year will play against us like its nba finals game 7.they will give there best.
On other hand, we are also going to be lacking effort in many games.taking things for granted etc etc. After last year playoffs, where we went so many games down by double digits to come back and win..plus series where we were trailing and came back to win it... u feel the players cockiness is big!
I personally am happy with this loss, why? It will give our players motivation ,hunger to put more effort. This type of losses are welcome now, so that we avoid it by playoffs.

We just didn't show a good effort, it's as simple as that. We didn't box out, didn't rotate well defensively, didn't go after loose balls and as a result didn't push the ball the way did against Boston either. If we're going to play small, we'll have to run a ton to make up for our lack of size.

This type of cringe inducing performance is nothing new, and there have been much worse games and stretches lasting several weeks over the past two seasons. Ideally, you'd like to see consistent effort and performance during games, so players don't pick up bad habits. However, as much as we'd love to see great effort and execution every night, it is a long season so games like this are bound to happen. Relax and stop overreacting. It's too early in the season to get into panic mode again.

I agree. The Heat pulled there hearts out in D tonight and shot great too. It's unfortunate that Carmelo who is known for his great defense shut down LeBron (and Wade at times). I fear playing the Knicks in the playoffs, having Amare back will make them really dangerous to the Heat because all the fire extinguishers used to keep us from burning the building down will be gone.
**** it I'm a Lakers fan now!
