Did we drop the ball when we didnt pick up these players?

Nate Robinson - Vet minimum, Bulls, 21 minuts per game : 11.5 points, 3.7 asists, 1.7 TO, 47% from the field.
Will Cole ever give us that?

Andray Blatche, Vet minimum, Brooklyn, 17.1 minutes per game, 9.1 points, 11.4 rebounds per36, 1.4 blocks per36.
Couldnt he have backed up Bosh?

C.J. Watson, Reggie Evans, Hasheem Thabeet are also cheap players that could probably help.

Blatche would have been nice, Not so much Nate. He would not fit our system.

Nate Robinson is averaging twice as many shots as Cole, so no Cole will never give us that.

Blatche.. really?

Blathes rebounding numbers stick out to me.

I just dont think he'd get the minutes in miami to sustain them.

I'm guessing some of you may have forgotten, but right before Blatche signed with Brooklyn, it was reported he was also weighing an offer from the Heat. He chose NOT to sign with Miami. Not sure it can be considered "dropping the ball" if the Heat made an offer (vet min. just like the Nets) but the player decided to sign elsewhere.

Blanche maybe. But the others don't fit what they are trying to do. They are decent players just not a match for this system.

Blatche is a mess. Not signing him actually helped us. Camby on the other hand...

Definitely not Blatche. He is a clown man. Never in shape, too much off court issues. This is the Heat organization. First class all around. There is no way Micky or Pat would stand for someone who's getting arrested for a driving recklessly, paying for strippers and prostitutes etc. Hell nah. He would be off the team before playing his first game.

Nate would be a good instant help, but I think Cole's upside is higher because he is playing his most impressionable years of his career with some of the best players in the world. People underestimate that. Bron and them hold him to the highest regards, if he **** up he hears it and learns. Nate was just wild through out his career, no real mentor, just all over the place. Cole has no limit at this point of how he can turn out.

Reggie evans? Now that guy would of been a huge help. Since we have Anthony, someone you don't expect to even take a shot in a game, you replace him with reggie one of the best rebounders in the league and you are set.

The only guy I really want off your list is CJ Watson. He's one of the most underrated players in the league and always caused problems against us when he was with the Bulls.

Idk about Blatche but Reggie Evans would've been sick.

First off, we should be aware that buliding a roster is more then picking the best players. there are many other considerations involved. also, none of those guys is a world beater and none would have been a huge get.

With that said, talking pure basketball skill :

Nate Robinson >> Cole.
Better scorer, more experienced, Better playmaker. I think we missed out. (but PG isn't that crutail for us).

C.J. Watson is Similar to Mario, im afraid he's also better than Cole but he's kinda meh.

Reggie Evans > Haslem.
Better rebounder, better defender, bigger and stronger. just as bad on offense.

Blatch might be at the same level as Lewis, he's a better rebounder and has a bigger inside presence but Lewis spreads the floor better. Still, Blatch could have been our seconed best Center.

Hasheem Thabeet is Kinda a bigger younger version of Joel, so Meh.

I keep hoping we'll trade for a guy like JJ Hickson, he's sort of a combination between Blatch and Reggie Evans.

Absolutely...I think it will hurt us as the season goes on that we didn t sign a big men of that list. Blatche, Thabeet, Evans would all havebeen nice addition considering our lack of size and rebounding in the frontcourt

Its ridiculous. Reggie Evans averages 16 rebs per 36 minutes.... He is also a pretty good defender. Would have been an insanely good pickup.

have to agree on the reggie evans thing. couldve signed him for cheap instead of anthony back in 2010. look at the numbers evans averages about the same minutes as anthony did last year but pulls down double the rebounds
DOUBLE!!!

Joel last year's rebounding per36 : 6.7

Evens this year per36 : 15.7

6.7 X 2 = 13.4

It's significantly more then double. and Reggie is a very good defender also.

It's kinda depressing.

Nate is a damn knucklehead. Too much clowning, which is not what this veteran team needs. They already have funny guys to keep the locker room loose, while also being productive. They don't need a comedian.

Watson is better than Cole, right now, but does nothing well. He's like a worse version of Rio. For all the hate Cole gets, he has way more potential upside than either Nate or CJ. He's one of the fastest guys in the league, can get to the rim and is solid defensively. As a late pick, just starting his second season, he's got room to grow. It'd be stupid to write him off 77 games into his career.

Blatche is a knucklehead too. His work ethic is questionable, and he comes off as a very selfish player. Here, he'd have to earn his way into the rotation, and through defense first. I don't know who here thinks he'd have climbed out of Spo's doghouse. He'd be getting few minutes, and we'd see the douchebag Blatche come out. The season is young on him. I'd wait the full season on him before saying he's changed. Let's see how he deals with adversity.

Reggie Evans would have been cool. He's a damn flopper, but a great energy guy that seems to fit the Heat mentality.

Thabeet I don't think anyone could have predicted being this productive. He seems to have improved, but there's no way anyone can complain about us not pursuing him. He's been a certified scrub up until this season. PEACE.

i know this is too premature to be thinking about but i really think we should move that philly pick this year, maybe package it with cole and pittman. pittman would be an expiring so teams wouldnt mind freeing up the cap space.

ive been looking at the 2013 draft class, no real good bigs wed be able to get and like previously discussed there are some bigs we can probably trade for (hickson, jason smith etc. etc.)

to replace cole we can get a player that i think will be a quality bench guy in the nba
nate wolters out of south dakota state. 6'4 hes a TRUE point guard, has good bballiq and he shoots the ball very well. averaged 20-5-5 last year. not the fastest player but i think he can be similar to an andre miller type point guard and thats nothing to scoff at.

just hope he doesnt have a year like lillard where he gets too much attention and becomes a lottery pick

So...about Blatch...

Last night he dropped 20 on us, with 8-12 shooting. and 8 rebounds.

But apperently we did give him an offer, he just chose Brooklyn. Not sure why, he could've gotten more minuted with us..ho well.
