Kobe starting to "Shaq" it ?

He's always been a player that I enjoyed guarding the most. He was the most difficult because of his size and his speed.

He's talking about Melo. And I've always thought Lebron was bigger, stronger and faster than Melo.

Seems to me Kobe learned from Shaq how to **** on people he considers might threaten his legacy. For all their feuds, maybe those 2 were more similar than we thought, and I guess they deserved each other.

Looking forward to Kobe saying Korver is a better defender than Lebron and Reggie Evans is a better play maker. If Kobe gets all mad and pissy and jealous and petty, like Shaq is today, I will greatly enjoy it.

I made a thread a while back when Kobe was saying something like Lebron's one ring isn't going to cut it or something like that. Obviously he's got a point but i felt like it wasn't his business to concern himself with how many rings another player has especially when Lebron had been getting **** on for not having one for a long time. Just let him enjoy it FFS. Now i wake up and find this nonsense? In what world is Carmelo faster than Lebron?????

Kobe is entitled to his opinion. I don't see anything wrong with it. If for him, personally, Melo is tougher to defend, then that's it. It doesn't mean everybody thinks that way. It's not as if Kobe is the voice of the basketball world, it's only people who give him that voice. Others may think Durant is the toughest player to guard, others might say it's Wade and then others might claim it's LeBron. Just because Kobe Bryant, who isn't even known to be a great defensive player, claims Melo is tougher to guard than LeBron doesn't mean everybody thinks that way.

Doesn't much matter. He can't guard either of them.

Kobe isn't even relevant anymore. Not even a Top 20 player. Oh by the way, Kobe can't guard Lebron.

Kind of an awkward statement here considering hes been having a much better season then Wade so far and has been playing in the NBA for 6-7 more years...

To make it clear, I know Kobe's entitled to his opinion and I don't worry too much about what he says. It's just that I would actually find it funny if he became as petty and jealous as Shaq is.

After they retire, TNT should give Kobe and Shaq a show called "Bitter old men" where they take superstars (that they consider a threat to their legacies) and they trash them and claim some random role players are better than them. At the end of the show they argue amongst themselves who was better and taste each other's asses.

All he said was harder to guard doesn't mean he's better, from a purely Iso- Situation Yea he and Durant would be harder to guard. But from a team standpoint Lebron would be better

Except LeBron is ranked #22 for iso's and Carmelo is ranked #25 in terms of ppp on Synergy.

That's what I was saying earlier. LeBron may be the better isolation player overall, but for Kobe, Melo is harder to guard. There's nothing else to it. Kobe's opinion is not equal to a general fact.

Way to react to it. It's just a f***ing statement, his opinion which he's entitled to. It's not worth a thread, because it's just one of many opinions. But to call him overrated and claim his days are done when he's the league's leading scorer is even more ignorant than one could ever consider Kobe's statement depending on how you interpret it.

Not very awkward to me considering I made myself pretty clear on this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1205975

that this will be the worst year of his career and will have declining numbers all around his stats. Someone even laughed at me saying I should turn in my Heat fan card for ranking Melo over Wade.

There's a handful of guards around the league currently playing better than Wade. Hell even Eric Bledsoe has a higher PER.

I mistook you for a Wade homer/Kobe hater.

I love Wade but I too question if he's still a top 10 player. If he is then he hasn't been showing it recently.

I love Wade, he's my favorite player in the NBA, but I'm not blind either. He hasn't played at the level I expect out of him since the Finals rematch against the Mavericks two years ago. That's the last series of games I've seen him play consistently well.

Kobe's still good. He's having a great season. However, that doesn't mean we have to care about his opinion on defense since he clearly can't defend any of them.
