Possilbe Solution To Empty Roster Spot & Rebounding Issue

Post#1 » by Heatfansince04 » Sun Jan 6, 2013 1:13 am

There's a 24-year-old free agent center who's affordable, has impressive career rebounding averages and has interest in playing for the Heat. If you haven't figured out who I'm referring to by now or have forgotten about him, I'm referring to Greg Oden. I know his injury history is questionable but for a nonguaranteed minimum contract, I don't see why we couldn't give it a shot. Even if it is just for limited minutes.

Now we're looking to the guy who wanted to become a high school gym teacher to save us? When these are your answers, folks, YOU NEED TO START ASKING BETTER QUESTIONS. Seriously. You'd think we were a lottery team with how desperate some of you sound. PEACE.

Celtics fan here.

Oden plans on sitting out this entire season and attempting a comeback next season. He's still building up strength in his knees.

I'm not saying we need him. I'm just saying he wouldn't hurt. In terms of fixing the rebounding problem, this would be plan B for me. Plan A would be giving Josh Harrellson some playing time and seeing how he could help. I probably should have worded the title to this thread better. I'm not in panic mode.

I know that was his plan, I also remember his agent saying that a January or February return would also be a possibility if something come up that couldn't be turned down.

Greg Oden is exactly the kind of prospect I'd love to see this team take hold onto. I'm all for this. I think I've spoken about this before, but Oden is a low-risk, EXTREMELY HIGH reward for the HEAT. Fully healthy, he's EXACTLY what the HEAT are looking for at the center position, and with his rebounding and defensive capabilities, he'd be perfect next to Chris Bosh, whom many of us have often referred to as soft from time to time (myself included).

Lol I'm sorry but when I was reading this, it sounds exactly like something Skip Bayless would say.

Isn't this EXACTLY nearly verbatim what people were saying about Eddy Curry last year?

Eddy Curry's reputation has never been that of a rebounder and/or defensive presence in the paint. Greg Oden was considered to be the next great big man coming out of college. Slight difference, young padawan. Fully healthy, Oden would accomplish much of what I just mentioned. It's not like I'm overrating the man.

May sound strange or foolish but if there is any possibility we should sign J.O'neal. He is playing well in Phoenix. He may be a upgrade over what we have right now. Rebounds-Blocks and some scoring ability.
