For fun: is it possible to trade for Dwight Howard?

Post#1 » by 420 » Thu Jan 24, 2013 9:40 pm

The guy's trade value is at an all-time low.

Pat Riley has connections with the Lakers.

Any package around Howard would probably be built around Wade or Bosh.

Wade is older than Bosh. Bosh isn't the consistent, productive guy we'd hope he would be.

Lineup:
PG-Chalmers
SG-Wade
SF-LeBron
PF-Haslem
C-Dwight

or

PG-Chalmers
SG-Allen (ugh)
SF-Lebron
PF-Bosh
C-Dwight

Wade is never being traded, you can scratch that.

We won't trade Bosh either, but hypothetically if you do trade Bosh for Dwight you desperately need a strech 4 and and a knock down shooter at the point.

Wade-LBJ-Dwight will be great on defense but on offense it's far from ideal. Dwight clogs the paint, Haslem cant hit a jumper to save his life..Rio is hot and cold. teams will dare us to shoot and defend the paint and our spacing will be pretty miserable.

On top of that, Dwight's back problems are a big concern, he's not his old self yet and might never be 100% back and he's a spoiled brat that can't hit free throws in money time.

Not realistically. This isn't the old Dwight either, he's not really athletic anymore and his whole game was pretty much predicated on that. His stats still look pretty good but he's a far cry from what he was in Orlando a couple of years ago.

You still want Howard after what you witnessed this year? He is not a winner. If Kobe can't set him straight, then I doubt Wade/Bron/Bosh would do the same.

If we are fortunate enough to win another championship this year, I cringe at thinking of the (increased) entitled rhetoric that will flow freely soon thereafter. :nonono:

F*** Howard, he's soft, whiny and not made for our franchise and our team. All his smiling and giggling has pissed me off over the years already, but now he folds under pressure and is the epitome of a pretender.

Wade will never be traded!

That shouldn't even be an option

Wade would never be traded. But would i trade Bosh? Honestly, I would say YES but thats just an honest answer. Howard when his mind is right, is the best BIG MAN in the NBA. But he needs someone to bring him along. LeBron is a great passes and teammate, I could see it working. But we would need to trade Haslem which isn't happening.

The troll who voted Wade for Howard can turn in their Heat fan card and go bandwagon somewhere else.

**** that diva Howard. Don't need him, don't want him.

**** Howard! He's a Primadonna, jackass, and a whiner. He got one dude fired and now he's working on D'antoni. He's a cancer that this team does not need. He can take his ass to New York, the jackass capital of the world.

I voted Bosh for Howard, but only because I've mulled the idea lately. With Bosh at the 5 now, it would be an even swap, as far as position is concerned. If Dwight can return to form and be the person he was in Orlando, we'd have an all-time great defense. Two of the best wing defenders with one of the best defensive centers behind them? We'd be pitching shutouts.

However, I think that kind of move would make Lebron into even more of a jumpshooter. Bosh is currently the safety valve from midrange, and Bron would then be our stretch-4. That's not too bad, really, and we would really only need to find a SF, which we have a lot of. Miller and Battier taking those reps at SF with Cole and Rio at PG would make us formidable on defense, a terror in the passing lanes, a beast in pnr, strong on the glass and we'd still have amazing 3pt shooting.

I think the trade benefits both teams too, but it really hinges on Dwight's health. If he returns to Orlando form, he is well worth it. Bosh would be great in the MDA system as well. I only recently started thinking about it for real, though. I'm fine with what we got right now though. I think we can win it all without helping another superteam improve. PEACE.

LOL i cant believe some of you wont take take Howard. I would take howard in a heart beat over Bosh. With Howard, the Lebron and Battier lineup would work even better. Our defense would be outrageous!!!! Imagine the defense Howard shot blocking and rebounding along with James, Battier, Wade and Chalmers would do to opponents!!

Howard really? He only made the all star team this year on past glory in my opinion. His play this year isn't AS caliber if you ask me. Dude's been in and out through injury all year and obviously doesn't work in D'Antoni's system. Id be trading him in a heartbeat if i was the Lakers. Get some serious pieces back. Dude isn't nearly as dominant as some around here think he is. That's just my opinion though.

After going to the finals 2 years ago AND winning it all last year AND being #1 in the east right now with these 3 amigos, trading one of them would be great!!!

If there's no problems, let's take a risk having problems since being the favorites is not good enough

If we can do it either without giving up a big-3 or getting another piece back then maybe for Bosh. Not for Wade though!

Something like Bosh/Miller/Anthony for Howard/Jamison/Blake

We get a stretch 4, while getting the beat player in the trade & dropping $3M. Blake is 1 year shorter than Miller/Anthony, so we get some cap relief.

Chalmers/Cole/Blake
Wade/Allen
James/Battier/Jones
Haslem/Jamison/Lewis/Varnado
Howard/Anderson/Pittman

Return to Miami Heat
