1. I believe we all agree that the Birdman is a very good addition to this team. you immediately see the impact a REAL CENTER has on our team (Bosh and UD are not real Centers, and Joel is too bad to play big minutes) i think we still need another Center like him (Mozgov/Dalembert/Whoever) to share minutes at Center with him. We cant rely on the Bird to give us huge minutes, he's 34 YO. He needs help holding the position.
2. The Raptors game showed how much better we can use Bosh. we have to start feeding him ON THE MOVE, not just on ISO and long jumpers. Wade and LBJ are good passers, we have to play alot much more P@R between both of them and Bosh, and let him roll hard to the basket..not just pick and pop.( it works nicely with Birdman too and gives us easy baskets).
3. Move away from Smallball. With Birdman on board, it's time to end that faild experiment. Birdman and Joel should both be rotation players. Joel isn't very good, but he's more useful then Haslem at this point and playing them both (atleast untill we get another Center) will allow us to move Bosh to his real position - PF.
4. Devlope Cole more. If Cole can start hitting the outside shots..he'll be awesome for us. Let's face it - Mario isn't going to get smarter or a be better defender. But Cole might start hitting more shots.
5. Use Allen, Lewis, battier better. Lewis and Battier shouldn't ever play as a PF again. Both are Slow SF's and should only be played as Such. Allen should be played next to LBJ (he creats the open looks for him) AND Birdman or Joel (they cover up for him on Defense). Help him look better by playing him in the right lineups.
6. No reason to put LBJ AND Wade on the bench on the same time. we're usally getting killed with those awful strange lineups.
We have 95% of the personal we need (still missing 1 more decent Center IMO) we just need to use it better and be smarter (and bigger). We can and should be much better, and look like the dominant force our true potential allowes.

Re: Our keys to a better second half of the season
Pretty much everything you stated, Birdman has been great! Dude is really helping us getting rebounds and specially tipping em out to teammates. Rio is basically non-existent right now, I hope he finds his sway back as well as Allen.
Battier is great on D as usual but he needs his stroke back for those 3's which after the break should come back.
Wade is seriously getting his hops back (Which never left, but much improved from the D-wade that we all know and love) which gives us heat fans a big ass smile on our faces.
It's safe to say UD literally lost his jumper, its broken to pieces...

In the playoffs lebron can play the 4 and small ball will work again. Particularly against the knicks celtics and pacers.

Re: Our keys to a better second half of the season
Although I see that it is implied in your (Rex's) post to play Haslem less by saying we need to play more true centers, I think less Haslem/benching Haslem should be it's own bullet point.

4. Between Chalmers and Cole, I really don't know who should we play more to be honest. Both suck major ass, you can either space the floor and play Chalmers, who is more experienced, and hope that he knocks a couple of threes (and i really mean hope at this point) or you can go with Cole who somewhat upgrades our defense but arguably worsens our offense albeit not by much. It's a gamble either way and none of the two ain't bringing much to the table on most nights...
5. Allen: We should use him like Boston did, running around screens and off plays like a madman to keep the defense on it's heels. He doesn't need much space to shoot. Bosh could be his emergency resort option for a baseline jumper if he doesn't get a good look off the screen, similar to what Garnett or Bass in Boston. I believe this is the best way to use him at this point of his career. What irritates me is him handling the ball, creating, driving out of control etc. Basically anything that doesn't involve shooting, he shouldn't do unless it's really REALLY necessary (bad offensive stretch, end of shot clock situation etc.) He's given to much freedom and has too much confidence in his (non)ability with all the crazy plays which cost us at least 2 or 3 TO per game. That seriously needs to stop.
Lewis: He was signed as an offensive shooting stretch 4 and that's exactly how we should use him. When we need a stretch 4 or if none of our guys are hitting threes, he should play. If we're struggling on offense, he should play some. If our offense is clicking there's no need for him to step on the court, since he doesn't provide anything other than threes and jumpers.
Battier: I still have hope in him contributing to the team once he finds his stroke (unlike Haslem or M&M) but like you said, he needs to be played MOSTLY in his natural position, backing up LeBron or playing Small Forward when LeBron is the PG,PF,Whatever... He gets destroyed in the paint and on the glass against big strong PF's
Otherwise I see us having a better second half of the season barring major injuries to any of our star players. If Spo makes the proper adjustments (and that's a big **** IF) that should help a lot, plus Birdman will help a lot, plus hoping Rio, Battier and Ray to some extent start hitting something, they can't all suck for 80 games, can they? That SHOULD be enough to get the 1st seed, easily.

Basically everything you said especially number 3. Small ball should be used as a weapon when the matchup allows it instead of a regular thing.
