How Do We Get It Going On The Road?

Post#1 » by PLUGITUP9 » Sat Feb 9, 2013 4:27 am

Ok so we are one of the hottest teams at home this year and the role players undoubtedly look more comfortable in their own palace.

How do we get it going on the road? What is the secret recipe or ingredient? In order to secure HCA we must pick it up on the road. Shaq was quoted many years ago saying in order to win a chip you need to dominate at home, go at least 50/50 on the road and peak at the right time. Pretty much describes the title run last year and emulates this year so far.

Last year we were mediocre after all-star, got pushed to the brim against the C's and peaked perfectly in the Finals. I see us doing much better after all-star this year, the team is much deeper - our role players just haven't been consistent yet.

I want HCA throughout the playoffs with a minimum of # 1 in the East. Nobody will best us on the East with HCA but I reckon the Finals this year without it will be extremely tough.

Picking up our road record on the run home will be important. Just my opinion.

I don't get why Ray Allen shoots so bad on the road.

We weren't great on the road last year but won what it mattered in the playoffs

I know but do you think we need to do something different the rest of the year to win more on the road? For example change the starting line up or rotations? I think on the road you have to go deeper in the bench so the starters don't get burnt out especially if there are back to backs etc

The bench needs a creator... stagger the Big 3's minutes...

Dunno get the feeling it's just a confidence thing with the role players. That and teams really get up for the champs at home and we tend to play lazy at times..

simple. our role players need to show up and the heat as a team needs to play with passion & energy but on top of that force turnovers and get out on the fast break like how they do at home...

At home, role players feel more comfortable and hit their shots more... play with more confidence.
On the road, not so much. Like night and day.

I think on the road, if we went with a better defensive mentality... like lock em down... slow it down... meaning not so much small ball, we should get better results.

Seeing how the Raptors combated that Pacer frontline with JV, Amir, and even Bargs in route to a win... can't help but think what would have happened if we went more Birdman and Joel during that game. All I know is that it would've been a much closer game

And this is why HCA is really important. It's not for the stars to play well, it's for the role players. Stars always play well, regardless of where it is at, that is why they're stars. The role players on the other hand need the home environment in order to play well in.

I think it's a focus issue more than anything though, so I expect the Heat to play well on the road in the post-season.

I think we definitely need to play Joel more for his Defence when we play teams that have good low post scorers.

Bosh at the 5 can work in stretches when we go small but is a better rotation to start bosh at 4 with bird at 5 or Joel at 5 and bring bird in to rotate then move bosh to 5 if we are going small when we have battier playing stretch 4 hitting those 3's when he's hot?

I just think we need to mix It up depending on who we play.

Sideshowbob had a great post about the offense with Lebron and either Wade or Bosh on the court as opposed to all three being better over the last two years. I think our rotations could be changed a little bit to maximize that effect. Stagger Wade/Bosh more and not so much Lebron/(Wade+Bosh)
Your emotions fuel the narratives that you create. You see what you want to see. You believe what you want to believe. You ascribe meaning when it is not there. You create significance when it is not present.

Its better if everyone knows their role. I cant think of many teams that shuffle their rotation based on who they are playing. Minutes shift. But not the whole rotation usually.
