It never fails with these guys

I mean really? UNLV's college basketball program has a richer history than these guys

From Ewing to Anthony along with such "prominent figures" in between like Starks, Oakley, Mason, Houston, Curry, Starbury, Franchise

As for Clyde, ONE AWESOME YEAR and your just the authority on great teams smh....even though Jerry West, you know the guy with the team that actually has the streak acknowledged us

From the Franchise to the players and last but not least the unknowledgeable, arrogant, paint chip eating fans

it will never end, ya gotta love it

What I posted:

mopper8 wrote:There's some irony in a pre-merger champ dissing the strength of the current NBA. At least all the best players are actually playing in the current league, unlike the Clyde's heyday, when superstars like Rick Barry, Spencer Hawyood, and Julius Erving were playing for the ABA.

Seriously, talk about no perspective.

I know right mopper lol

Most everybody has a bit of respect for the streak...leave it to

Walt "one championship that no one ever remembers at the beginning of the 70's which happens to be the WEAKEST era of basketball" Clyde Fraiser and the oh so rich history of the NYK organization along with the fans to have something to say.

 holy crap

Don't even bother arguing. Just let this all play out and the people can make up their narratives after it's over. Before last year, Lebron wasn't clutch and didn't have what it takes to be a champion. Now that narrative has changed, and it's something different. It'll change again if they win this year, and it'll keep changing. People just get jealous and hate success.

It's interesting, because you hear or read some people on the streak, and it's clear they love the league, the game, etc, and say things like, "It's great to see a team playing at such a high level, and it's great for the game to have them drawing this attention," etc.

And then you see other player and it's not about the league or the game, it's about themselves. "I'm not impressed, what they're doing is not as impressive as what I did, they're not as a good as my teams were, the league today is weaker than it was in my day."

It's clear who cares about the game, and who cares about their own legacies.

Yeah and how many of those have been won in the past 40 years   ? Knicks were created in the 40's and the Heat in '88. You tell me which one is actually relevant.

Seriously what a stupid thing to say, Knicks haven't won in like 4 decades and haven't done anything in the playoffs in the past decade. What a joke of a franchise, I laugh every time they're called the "basketball Mecca", that title should be reserved for L.A. imo.

There's a good chance that the Heat will win 2 of the next 3 titles while Knicks won't even make it past the 2nd round in that time frame.

Weird, doesn't sound like something Clyde would say.

So ? the Celtics have won 3/4 of their championships in the 60's,by your logic they are slightly above average NBA team. ,and i still don't know what Clyde comments have with Knicks fans ?

One thing I don't like is that to prove to people that our winning streak has merit, we have to diminish the accomplishments of the 33-win Lakers to show that they also played in a diluted league (perhaps even more diluted). Why can't people just stay classy....

A lot of NYK fans, CHI fans trying to downplay our accomplishments as they can with various 90s comparisons, current state of the east, etc.

Damn. If we do break that streak and win the title...wow, I'd LOVE to see these guys' reactions.

FWIW, there are a few posters in that thread that have made some reasonable points although there are numerous counter arguments for those points.

On the other hand, apparently the only reason we win is because of touch fouls, watered down league and injured opponents.

Amazing.

Why do people forget that Hakeem destroyed not only Robinson, but also Rodman in the western finals. Rodman was a great defender, but he didn't have that big of an impact on the great bigs of the era. I feel as if though as soon as someone mentions him shutting down a great big, they immediately show that they have no knowledge of 90s basketball.

Guys, we've gotta realize that with success comes jealousy, hate and saltyness. I'm not trynna compare us to duke but look at em, every fan in America hates duke. Why? Because they're a great team year in and year out. Similarly, these Knicks fan realize that with the heat team being around for a while they're not gonna be sniffing anything other than a 1st round exit for the next 5-6 years ,plus, they're really butt hurt about not getting Lebron  so they, along with many other nba team fans, try to discredit the streak. But you know what thy say. Haters gonna hate. Lets keep the streak going!!
