OT: Miami (FL) vs. Marquette

Post#1 » by OtW » Fri Mar 29, 2013 12:35 am

Felt like this deserved it's own thread.

The Hurricanes look so rattled. Marquette has been crisp on nearly all of their defensive rotations and traps. On top of that, when we do get open looks, we aren't knocking them down. Marquette is also pursuing all of the 50/50 balls successfully.

What do you guys make of this?

It comes down to shooting. The line in college is so short, you cannot afford to shoot 3/18 (that's what they are at this point) and expect to win without absolutely dominating your opponent in all other categories.

Its part of what I hate about college basketball, its become such a 3-point centric sport... makes for exciting games in March Madness, but takes away somewhat from the skill of the players, instead turning it into a shooting contest.

Now Miami "fans" can go back to not caring about basketball
Your emotions fuel the narratives that you create. You see what you want to see. You believe what you want to believe. You ascribe meaning when it is not there. You create significance when it is not present.

College basketball rules subsidize mediocrity, because the players are on the whole mediocre. The tourney generates faux excitement because a 7-game series between almost all teams would be dreadfully boring. There's a reason I barely watch it. Fun to follow the 'Canes when they're successful but it's hard to stomach after a steady diet of elite NBA-level ball.

Hopefully this bodes well for potential recruits in the future. Miami Basketball is now on the map again.

I blame me for this loss, a military buddy talked me into going to Gainesville to watch UM and gators on back to back nights. I should have stayed home, now I am in Gainesville with a serious attitude

Hope Duke loses
