There is a point where with guys like Beasley and Dexter you just have to accept that while they MAY have had loads of potential, it simply will never come to fruition. I remember people saying Beasley just needed a "better" fit and how the wolves were perfect, and then the suns. Seems like it's not a team issue, just bad player. Dexter rode the bench here even when we were desperate for a big man, and when Gasol went down in Memphis, they barely gave him 1-2 minutes. There are guys like Lin out there who just need a chance or a shot and they can be at least serviceable players, but most are like Dexter and Beasley.

The problem with that is there have been some reclamation projects that failed in different stops and then made good.
They are few and far but they do happen and Lin is a perfect example. Its easy to say now that all he needed was a shot but before Linsanity no one was saying that. They were saying you have to accept that he is a bad player.
(I don't mean this in regards to Dexter personally just in the general sense of failed prospects)

Traded him for the rights of Ricky... something, who was a 2nd round draft pick.
and I'm not sure if I should feels sorry for Dex, it's true he never has had a REAL opportunity. A team with no Center should give him a chance, but for now he gotta go back to the D-League or something.
I really thought this guy was going to be productive after the Heat experimented on him. I guess not.
He is a player that can be loyal to a team, he was an enforcer around here to me. Anyone messed with a Heat player, Dex was going to bite lol.
Welp... I wish him luck.

I don't believe that. I strictly remember people saying that Lin was solid, and all he needed was a chance. Lin was always stuck behind quality pgs. Pittman has been stuck behind Joel Anthony, don't try to make the same comparison.

As I said in my post "its easy to say now that all he needed was a shot". My "no one was saying that" was not meant to be taken literal but I don't recall anyone being high on Lin.
He didn't get scholarship offers for college, they wanted him to walk-on at bigger schools.
Then no team drafted him.
Then he got waived by two teams
Then he was backing up scrubs on New York before finally getting a shot.
Not to mention I literally said in my post "I don't mean this in regards to Dexter" so I don't know why you took it as a direct comparison.

pot, kettle, black. You are the king of scattershot info and then changing your story as the truth unveils itself.
Lin is still just an average player. He couldn't break into our starting lineup and I'd rather have Cole as back-up PG than Lin. He's a very clever but limited player. we showed how poor he is when pressured. Not sure why you are bigging him up.
And maybe the guy thinks you're talking about Pittman because THIS is a Pittman thread.
Pittman was simply a cheap no lose option when we had no cash and no bigs. He managed to beat out E Curry.

Beasley had the athleticism card and Dexter had the height card. Both were "diamonds in the rough" prospects that many thought would pan out to at least decent role players (at least serviceable contributors). I think the hype behind him was pretty huge when we were desperate enough to pick up Curry. He got some decent minutes at the end of the 2011-2012 season, and he had some decent "potential" games where people said if he just played more he could be a 10-10 guy with decent defense. It would be interesting to see Dex just get thrown in to a half decent team as a starter for 25+ mins and see what happens over a year, but highly unlikely.
I'l be honest I was not high on Cole either, when he was drafted. I really thought he would turn out the same, as the two guys above. But he showed enough in limited time to earn more time. Beasley already had his opportunities for big minutes and squandered it. Dex may never even get that, but never showed enough in limited minutes/practice to really deserve it anyways.
But to circle back to the OP, no. He is not coming back here.

I really like Dex. While when he lost the weight it was just obvious he had little NBA skill or athleticism, he DID work extremely hard to lose the weight. He put 100% effort in.

I gave up on Dex after I saw him in Summer League this year, he looked horrible, even there.

Actually I'm known as the guy who is slowest to buy into narratives. The only stories that "change" are the positions that you make up for me.
Name one example of me changing my story based on the benefit of hindsight? You keep making that charge but then slinking away without any evidence every single time I challenge you on it. Troll better please.
If you wouldn't want Lin instead of Cole then you are proving once again how bad you are at evaluating players. You condescendingly explained PER to people who already knew what it was before as a shorthand for evaluating players. Cole has a PER of 7.9, a horrendous mark. I don't really care for PER, I'm using YOUR stat.
You think I "big up" every player I mention because you have horrible reading comprehension and can't read what I am posting. Its the same when you think I'm "hyping up" a player when in reality all I'm saying is they would be a good minimum pickup. You don't understand context at all.
If he read my post he would see a disclaimer that specifically said I wasn't talking about Pittman. Posts don't need to be directly about the thread title. Your post here has very little to do with Pittman.
I haven't said that Pittman was anything more than that but I'm sure the voices in your head told you that I have.
