Dalembert Interested in Joining Miami Next Season

Post#1 » by BIRDMAN BIRDMAN » Mon Apr 22, 2013 2:30 am

MIAMI — Samuel Dalembert is now facing the Miami Heat. Next season, he has interest in playing for them.

The Milwaukee Bucks center becomes a free agent this summer. Dalembert, who had discussions about joining the Heat before last season, expects they again will be in the mix.

“The Heat will be definitely an option,’’ Dalembert told FOX Sports Florida before his Bucks lost to the Heat 110-87 in Game 1 of an Eastern Conference first-round series Sunday night at AmericanAirlines Arena. “It’s up to them and seeing what’s going to be out there. But at this point you want to be with a contending team. You don’t want to go backwards, so you want to chase that promised land.’’

Dalembert said the Heat continued to talk to him about signing for an even lesser amount before he got a two-year, $13.7 million deal with Houston just before the start of the 2011-12 season. Dalembert, who was traded last June to the Bucks, now says he would be willing to sign this summer for money similar to what he turned down initially from the Heat if it means going to a top team.

“I’d look at the mid-level, whatever’s going to be out there,’’ Dalembert said. “If it is a real contending team, we’ll have no problem. So we’ll see.’’

If he comes cheap, fine. If not, oh well.

I'm wondering if Birdman will re-sign for the vet min, is he still getting paid via his amnesty deal next year? If so, we might be able to get both, that'd be nice, let Dalembert replace Joel.

Niqqa just wants another pay day.

Right now I am more interested in keeping Andersen. This dude quickly became a bench warmer in MIL. Only if he comes cheap and with the right "sacrifice" mentality that everyone else on this team has.

On to the next one.

Birdman is the priority. Birdman is what we need energy wise and his ability to play above the rim. Dalembert has shown he can be lazy, the opposite of Birdman.

I heard that unless a team offers more than his previous contract (idk... more than midlevel) it wouldn't matter what a team offered, he'd make the same money, so it would seem like he'd be a lock to return to the team next season

Didn't DAL turn the deal down before with us?...

If so then I can care less if we don't get him, like above suggested, Birdman is our #1 priority to sign

If he comes for the minimum sure, but I really dont think theyll need him if Birdman comes back, if he does they should go after another PF.

Everyone saying they prefer Birdman are thinking with their hearts not their heads, and may be bitter that he didn't join the heat earlier.
Birdman has looked very solid with the Heat, but Daly is definitely the better player. Dude had a 35 point 14 rebound game this year, Anderson could never do that in his prime.
Is there any Heat fans that would prefer Dalembert?

In fact, couldn't you just have both? UD is DONE, surely he won't be with the team next year?

Sure he might be a good asset but this system with Birdman is working great for us, we had absolutely no complaints about him either.

Don't fix if it ain't broken, but no one said we don't WANT him either.

Sure he'd be nice and a Birdman-Dalembert center tandem would be incredible for us, but he says he wants the full MLE...we can't afford that. Its up to HIM if he wants to come here, not US.
