Have you noticed Bron's FT's tonight?

Post#1 » by CeCeySay » Tue May 7, 2013 4:36 am

His FT form tonight looked very much like Ray's. From the quirky, little bounce, standing up, to the sort of spring release when his arms come up, like Ray. He usually bends down, bending his knees, then slowly comes up and releases. Ray said before the playoffs that he wants to see Bron become a 50-40-90 guy, so you betcha these guys are working hard at FT's. Love the chemistry b/w these two, & this is why this man is so incredible, never satisfied.

I hate the timing behind it. Absolutely hate it. Why change FT form in the second round of the playoffs? When we need him to hit big FTs in the Finals down the stretch, is he going to be confident in the new form to hit them?

Even before Lebron changed his stance, he still shot exactly 70% from the line in the Bucks series. He missed two FTs last night so essentially, nothing has really changed. I'm sure Bron took the whole week practicing Ray's form and imo it really shouldn't come to a surprise to anyone on how often he changes his FT form. Seriously, go back and watch Bron when he first came here and you'll notice he has probably changed the way he shoots his FTs at least 3-4 times.

EDIT:

Here are some videos showing what I'm talking about when I say he keeps changing his form.

Fast forward to 0:52. This is one of the worst imo. Bron looks like he just chucks the ball.

Fast forward to 1:05. Here Bron changed it up again and this time it reminds me of the way Kobe shoots his FTs. Sort of.

Lebron has never been above 80% from the line in his career in both playoffs and regular season. The Ray Allen form looked quite nice, but as I said, he missed two. He needs to find a way to nail them when the game gets tight. Shoot 5000 FTs or something. Because every missed FT in the playoffs will definitely bite us back when the game goes down to the wire. I remember Rio missed two straight FTs last night which was awful.

Yup he always changes his FT form.

I like his current one though, if he can find a good rhythm to it. Looks like Ray/KD's and goes in smoothly.

I've been disappointed with Lebron and Wade's FTs all year. They should be doing better than they are. Mario has no excuse for his this evening.

dude has changed his FT form like 10 times he's been here

He is trying to do what Ray does, and honestly it's good. I think he only missed 2, but it has a better arch.

How sick would it be if his FT shooting is like 85% for his career in the future? If Ray's stance works for him anyway.

Well since Lebron switches up his form so much anyway, I'd like him to stick with this form of replicating Allen for the series at least and see how it works out. Looked pretty good last night.

Here's a nice piece that gets into Lebron's new form. There's also a video that compares his old form with his new one with also a side-by-side comparison with Ray Allen at the FT line.

http://www.nba.com/heat/news_recap/lebr ... w-makeover

“That’s what we’ve been working on, trying not to get him to dip” said Allen, a career 89.4 percent shooter. “That dip is what puts the ball in a weird position. It’s interesting because his mechanics, if you watch them when he misses – I’ve studied him shooting them a lot – that dip puts him in a bad position to where he starts trying to move the ball in different places and he ends up missing in different places. We’ve talked about it. He understands it. I just watch him and try to give him information and he seems like he has better confidence.

“I don’t know if he adopted my routine, I think he just goes to what’s comfortable for him. Looks good. He missed two free throws [last night] but he looks like he has a greater deal of confidence when he’s on the line. Just how he shoots it looks a lot more fluid. Our little free throw games, they’re definitely helping him.”

Not surprising. I saw him change the form thrice in one game.

not the time to be tweaking your free throw form. now its in his head, and it has caused him to not attack the rim late in games for fear of having to go to the line

4/8 from the line tonight. Tsk tsk. Come on Bron, you're better than this. Ray went 10/10. And hit what? 4 straight technical FTs? Dude has to keep practicing if he ever wants to hit 80%. Shooting 64% so far this series.

I haven't seen G2 yet, but in G1 LeBron displayed very sound mechanics in his form.

He needs to go back to the old form for the rest of the playoffs. Go with what your comfortable with. Now is not the time to experiment with your form. What if he needs to make some clutch free throws down the stretch and then he will have to worry about which form to use

This was an idiotic idea in the first place. He had pretty much settled into his usual 77% range which is good enough for him. Just wait until the offseason to do any radical changes.
