Excellent coaching by Pop. He figured out what Carlisle figured out. When LeBron is rolling in the assists being "Magic" he'll continue to do so. Cause thats his nature. He was OK with LeBron passing to open shooters. However, he knew eventually the D would clamp them down. Now LeBron is in one mode and doesnt figure out how to get out of it soon enough.
2011 vs. the Bulls. LeBron CARRIED the team.....he was drained after that series. Came out passive against the Mavs. I had a problem with game 1....and the Heat won against the Mavs! I was like....why is he passing so much? He gets to the hoop and kicks it out.
Also....Another reason LeBron gets passive? No offensive threat he's guarding. Why? Because last year he was worried Durant was going to bust his butt (no Hibbert) and take his throne as best in the NBA. LeBron had no choice. When he's guarding the Leonard's, the Danny Green's, Shawn Marion's, Deshawn Stevenson's of the world? He kind of laxes out. This is proof. Against Paul George? For the most part...went at him. Against Durant? Went at him. Against Luol Deng (though not great..but good)...went at him. Against Paul Pierce? You bet your last few bucks he's going to try to destroy him.
Pop is going to play the psychological game. Its up to both SPO AND LEBRON. To not fall for what Pop is selling. He must attack early and often. A game under 20 shots is a failure. Tell Rio and Wade to look for LeBron early and often. Its the way the Heat win. Its just the way it is. If 2011 never happened? Wade was healthy, Bosh wasnt a jump shooting PF. I would be "ok" with what LeBron is doing.
BUT GAME 2 HE MUST TRY TO GO FOR AT LEAST 30!!!!
Again. All discussion about LeBron in the finals here. Lets be honest. He determined the last two...and he'll determine this one as well...
