LeBron 2013 Finals Discussion

I'm sorry for the other thread. I was thinking about making it beforehand. But got so caught up in the game I didnt realize I posted that thread. Please mods leave this thread open.

Excellent coaching by Pop. He figured out what Carlisle figured out. When LeBron is rolling in the assists being "Magic" he'll continue to do so. Cause thats his nature. He was OK with LeBron passing to open shooters. However, he knew eventually the D would clamp them down. Now LeBron is in one mode and doesnt figure out how to get out of it soon enough.

2011 vs. the Bulls. LeBron CARRIED the team.....he was drained after that series. Came out passive against the Mavs. I had a problem with game 1....and the Heat won against the Mavs! I was like....why is he passing so much? He gets to the hoop and kicks it out.

Also....Another reason LeBron gets passive? No offensive threat he's guarding. Why? Because last year he was worried Durant was going to bust his butt (no Hibbert) and take his throne as best in the NBA. LeBron had no choice. When he's guarding the Leonard's, the Danny Green's, Shawn Marion's, Deshawn Stevenson's of the world? He kind of laxes out. This is proof. Against Paul George? For the most part...went at him. Against Durant? Went at him. Against Luol Deng (though not great..but good)...went at him. Against Paul Pierce? You bet your last few bucks he's going to try to destroy him.

Pop is going to play the psychological game. Its up to both SPO AND LEBRON. To not fall for what Pop is selling. He must attack early and often. A game under 20 shots is a failure. Tell Rio and Wade to look for LeBron early and often. Its the way the Heat win. Its just the way it is. If 2011 never happened? Wade was healthy, Bosh wasnt a jump shooting PF. I would be "ok" with what LeBron is doing.

BUT GAME 2 HE MUST TRY TO GO FOR AT LEAST 30!!!!

Again. All discussion about LeBron in the finals here. Lets be honest. He determined the last two...and he'll determine this one as well...

If he doesn't get 10 FTs in game 2 and carry us to a win, we are done; like, 5-6 game series done

Yep. Thats my other thread LeBron against "Smart coaches"

Against a fool like Scott Brooks. He'd leave LeBron isolated with an overmatched defender. Carlisle/Pop set things up for LeBron to be passive. Take away the driving lanes. Limit turnovers. Leave a few guys open early cause LeBron will look for them, etc etc.

LeBron has to attack quicker. Play within the midrange area. Draw fouls, etc. etc.

I'm not down on LeBron. I dont think the Spurs are the better team. But I didnt think the Mavs were either. But LeBron not being assertive enough costs the HEat.

We can still win the series. But its up to LeBron...and his mental approach to the game.

Hate to say it, but Jon Barry said before the game. DOnt be Magic, LeBron, be more Michael to beat the Spurs. He was right.

Boy once we get to San Antonio (Hopefully we win game 2..) we are going to be looking back at this game..

so 1 loss. no less a loss where lebron was a beast with a triple double and also a post season where without lebron we wouldve lost to a depleted bulls team, you wanna say lebron is the same as 2011.

this board is the crowning jewel of hyperbole and overreaction

My post from the other thread sums it up.

OK explain how this is 2011 all over again?

18/18/10...

Dude just waited way too late to get aggressive offensively...

I wish Wade/Bosh played "this bad" every game.

I think this was part of tonight's game plan to be honest...and it failed.

Sure you put Lebron's lack of aggression on HIM first and foremost but also the coach. From the start of the game I could tell it was to get other guys going and he allowed that plan to go on for far too long...get yours while Lebron gets it later, later came way too late.

He was great but then he wasn't aggressive enough in the 4th at all. That's where his game was tainted...

This is the **** Finals, he has to rise up.

The loss isn't solely blamed on him though, but he does have to score more.

The problem is you judge by the statline instead of what you see with your eyes

Lebron play like someone that's not even a competitive person, let alone MVP. He can be his stat machine all he wants, but whether he is playing with fire, will never miss the eye test.

To me, he is still not liked by all these basketball fans around, unlike MJ, is because u can see he sometimes doesn't even want to try. Whether that is quitting, i dunno. Not trying, absolutely.

This is not the 2012 lebron. He had too much to lose. This year's playoffs, he just decide to take whatever is the easiest option in front of him. May that be a pass? a jumpshot? He will take the most sensible option out there. He may be a great chess player.

If the media start saying they should take away his MVP, it is actually a good thing. He lacks moltivation. Whatever he says he's 20/30/50 times player than 2007, he sure seems like he doesnt see a need to back up his words.

Agree with everything 100%. Lebron's greatest strength is his biggest weakness. He's unselfish

you have it completely wrong. im not a stats guy. i hate judging games by looking at a boxscore. lebron was trying to get his shooters good looks. which he indeed get. he needs to get our role players going because he wont win this series by himself and no one else besides wade can make plays for others. for the most part he did his job getting the looks but we couldnt capitalize on those opportunities. good thing is now we know they are there

Was that really Spo's gameplan or POp's gameplan? Think about that closely

You have it completely wrong. We dont need LeBron getting shooters good looks in the 4th quarter, he needs to be applying pressure to the defense by ATTACKING

I'm pretty sure Pop was happy the best player on the planet didn't go off. That's what it ultimately came down to...

I mean LeBron had a great all around game, he also did get a triple double in a loss to Dallas 2 years ago. LeBron is just so damn good that even in a triple double of his can be tainted if he doesn't SCORE enough.

I hate when we face smart coaches in the Finals. Carlisle and Pop using the same gameplan against Lebron and it's working :(

Idk...could be either or...

Thats why I critique LeBron so much. It isnt that I dislike him. It isnt that I dont believe in him. I know he's the best there is by a good margin when he's locked in..

HOwever, I also know what he's dealing with. Bosh has for whatever reason regressed. Wade is still somewhat hurt (Still...you cant keep leaving shooter open DWADE, smh)

SPo..is Spo. He's always a game too late. I've come to accept that as a fact. Spo isnt bad. I think he's earned the right to be considered good. But he's playing Chess with Bobby Fischer in Greg Pop right now. He gambled on playing Wade too much of the 3rd and had to rest him which took away the chance of a well rested Wade to stretch the lead out at the start of the 4th.

Spo should have seen how the game was going. And make it a more "LeBron attack offense" THe quick cutters to the hoop from LeBron. Getting the ball after running off a screen, etc. etc.

But thats Spo...I've come to accept that. He's a good coach in this league. We're going up against a Superstar HC. LeBron has to be greater than the Spurs system. Just the way it is.

25 from LeBron wins this.

I feel like getting wade and bosh going early is something that will help us win the series. I thought it was a strategic move.

If wade gets going we are unbeatable. Lebron knows this so hes sacrificing game 1 so we can win the series. Dude is basically a coach on the floor.

Yea's he had a triple double in 3 straight NBA Finals :o

But we need the 30/10/10 types like in the Pacers series...

LeBron has to get his...the shooters will always be there this series.

16 shots (5 of them 3's) ...just isnt going to cut it.

lebron was tired. he said he only slept 1 hour at a time he was so excited. He will go off in game 2. But that does not mean the heat win. The whole team will need to play decent.
