It is what it is. He is a terrific player, but he really isn“t that important during the regular season with the kind of up tempo game we play.
If he would agree on playing 12-18min a game during the regular season and up those numbers considerably against Hibbert/Chandler/Howard(?) in the postseason he would be a beast on D, and not necessarily mess up the offense by clogging the lane.
The 12-18min restriction is also to keep him fresh and make sure his knees survive the regular season.

No thanks! The Heat cant make him their MAIN center this offseason. If he gets hurt the Heat are back to having Bosh at the 5.
Chalmers
Wade
Bron
Bosh
Dalembert

That leaves us with the same line up when he gets injured.
Also the Heat have a better chance signing dalembert then oden. Oden will be looking for way more money cause he knows he is one injury away from being out the league again.

I could see this happening. People say Oden will fetch more money but I question by who? He hasn't played in 2 full season and is known as someone who is made of glass. What time is giving him more than the min? The HEAT need size and a few projects to work on for the future. As ive said in the past, this is the perfect role for Oden. He can come in, get in shape, works his way back on to the floor. He wouldn't be the focal point or under alot of pressure. He would just have to be himself and play a role not save a team or be the future. The same kind of project happened this year with a 35 year old bird; Out of league, out of shape, needed time to get back.

His agent apparently said he's interested in the Heat, knowing full well that the Heat only have the MLE.
Maybe he was just trying to get other contenders to bite, having them fear that Oden might be back healthy and make the Heat unbeatable.
Or maybe they're just thinking long term, and if he has a couple of good years with the Heat where he can work himself in shape without much pressure and get a couple of rings in the process, he could land a big contract afterwards.
He's still only 25. If he puts his health issues behind (like Big Z did after a similar run of knee or ankle problems), at 27-28 he could have another 5-6 good years ahead of him. Especially since C's (and PG's) seem to reach their prime a little later than shooting guards and forwards.
That being said, my first priority would be keeping Birdman. He proved himself valuable, and he seems to fit well chemistry wise with the rest of the team.
Some teams might throw more money at him, but I hope the title, the ride and the fact that the Heat were the only ones to want him when nobody else did, would play a role in convincing him to come back.

I think a team will offer more than the min.
