Should Haslem hang it up?

Post#1 » by shanedude » Mon Jun 24, 2013 8:19 pm

The guy is a 3 time champion and will almost assuredly have his number hanging in the rafters. But it's pretty clear his game has dropped off a significant level. The guy is capable of coming up with a big game from time to time but more often than not I feel he's not contributing much on the court as a whole anymore. He'd be going out on the top and the front office will definitely take care of him after his playing career. I'd rather he be remembered as the warrior he's always been and not the washed up guy he's about to be. Plus he'd be doing a solid for the Heat regarding the cap and lux bills.

No.

Udonis won us 2 games in the Indiana Series. He is not useless or completely washed up. His role just isnt as big as it was pre heat and injury.

Udonis is with the heat as long as he wants to be.

PS. He's only been in the league 10 years. He has plenty of money to make.

Hey, I know I wasn't the only one who wasn't super frustrated by how he played in the majority of the play offs. You tell me what he can realistically do for us this upcoming season.

It's the timing bruh.

People have felt this way for 2 years, but UD shows up, maybe not as much as he should. We just have to accept he is not going to be consistent at all. Considering the Pacers are a team that will give us trouble next year, we need him for his jumper still. Two years in a row UD has helped us against the Pacers. This year he showed up and we don't get past the Pacers without him man.

I don't think Wade would be happy either if the Heat got rid of UD, so it's up to him to retire. I don't think that's anytime soon since we're looking to 3 peat.

Next year, 2014 July 1st, is when our offseason will be VERY busy.

But for now, it will be quiet with small moves.

You know we probably lose 2 games against Indiana if he didnt step up right?

You really are just going to act like that didnt happen?

he's done it several playoff games in this big three era.

Haslem in small doses is fine.

Plus he isn't leaving money on the table.

Not until we get a solid replacement that can rebound and be a factor offensively.

Dude took significant pay cuts twice for the team, Wade took less to keep him. Why piss in his mouth ?

this whole team in glued together by friendship and a sense of family .....

you Can't cut out parts and say....its bussiness .....

Just like last time , next year the big 3 are going to have to choose money or team....

You want the team to make this a bussiness decision or family decision?

Besides that...when the team needs UD the cat won us games

I think Haslem retires to the front office at the end of this contract anyway.

Not sure we could afford for him to retire, he still fills an important role on the team.

We just won our second straight championship and people are already trying to get rid of players 4 days after. And not just bench warming players that didn't directly contribute to us winning. Yall are talking major role players. Stopit.

Depends on what his role will be.

I don't mind him in a Juwan Howard type of role or as one of the last guys off the bench for a minimal salary, but the reality is that UD is done. He's not starter material and 3 good games in a season (out of a 100 games) isn't anything to write home about. People can cling on this dude as being the heart of the team as much as they want, but when UD will be bricking jumpers and getting abused on offense next year everybody will curse the dude out.

UD needs to work on that jumper. Thats basically it. Many moons ago there was an article on UD that if he added a consistant 3 he could make the allstar team as a fringe player, just work on the jumper

this. there was an article quoting him about working on a set 3-point shot. could you imagine if haslem could play D (he was the only one controlling duncan), hitting the glass AND hitting the corner 3?

Haslem hasn't even been close to a 3 point shooter his entire life. You expect him to add that now on the absolute downswing of his career? I'd probably throw up a little if I even saw him attempting it next season.
