Not long ago Garnett was saying something like "cut me open and I bleed Celtic green!"
Well, apparently all it took to change that color were 6 mil - guaranteed:

Garnett waived his no-trade clause after the Nets agreed to fully guarantee the $12 million owed him for the 2014-15 season, the third year of his contract. Prior to the agreement, the Nets could have bought out Garnett for $6 million.
Just like in 2007, when he wouldn't agree to a trade to the Celtics unless they gave him a 60 mil extension. Despite the fact that that made them instant contenders and he was supposed to be caring so much about winning.
Yeah, he plays hard, but he's always been about money first.
I wonder how he'll be treated by the Celtics fans now. Last year Ray Allen was a "traitor" for leaving for the Heat. How is leaving for the Nets, which are in the same division and wannabe-contenders ?
That said, the Nets got trounced in the trade. They gave up picks through the nose. Unprotected. And I have a feeling some of those are going to be very good, with that King idiot running the show.
And just like that the Nets became a very unlikable team, whereas they were neutral (to me) before and I would have liked them to take the Knicks down a bit, just for **** and giggles. And their black jerseys are really cool.
As for what it means for the Heat .... I think the Nets will be better than the Celtics were last season, but I doubt they'll be as good as the Bulls/Pacers or even the Knicks. Although it would be funny if Kidd left the Knicks to coach the Nets and led them to eliminate the Knicks in the playoffs. I think a good coach could do some damage with that Nets team, maybe even get a 2nd/3rd seed in the East, but if Kidd doesn't get the respect of Garnett and Pierce, they could implode, which might be just as awesome.
I'd really enjoy it if some real hatred developed between the Bulls, Pacers, Nets, Celtics and Knicks. Not that the Celtics would be relevant any more. Those teams already pretty much hate each other, most of them have dirty players and play "physical", so it's likely that when they'll play next season it will be raining technicals and ejections. It'd be really fun to watch those teams fight for the right to be eliminated by the Heat.

PS: I call Garnett the pink sock (DO NOT google "pink sock") because after 2008 he really let out the inner ****.
PPS: Mods, I think this deservers its own thread because it's a big trade and because it changes the landscape in the eastern conference.
