If we get the Birdman back, which of these bigs do you want?

Not to jinx anything, But we'll probablly get Birdman back for the vet minimum (he'll still be getting checks from the Nuggets next year).

But even if we do get Chris back, he'll be 35YO and we know he can't play big minutes. So we'll need another decent big to throw at the Bulls/Indy/Nets when we face them in the playoffs.

Using our only MiniMLE (3 years, 10Mil$ in total) which of this players do you rather have?
(some of the options might settle for the Vet min, but let's assume all of them are attainable with either the MiniMLE of the vet min)

If you want more then one of these options please comment and explain why.

Greg Oden. It's the most likely one anyway.

Most risky one too.

I think bringing Birdman back is enough to go for a high risk/high reward big. Besides, I really feel Oden will be healthy this time.

Dalembert number 1 for me and then Greg. but, if we strike out on those 2, i wouldn't say no to going at Brandan Wright. I don't know how realistic that is with our money situation and what money he would want. No way to Hollins, Blair or Blatche.

I think you are underestimating market value for a number of centers

Just curious, will whoever we get, actually PLAY? Also, I am wondering if people are basing their decision.....we've had a few centers in recent years after ZO/Shaq with very little impact, except for Anderson(has he always been a center)...I just am not excited about ANY CENTER in our CURRENT system

Unless you believe AndersEn is some kind of a speical talent, i dont get your point. Birdman is a Center and he had a HUGE impact for us. Don't think we win the ship without him last year. He's not even a great Center, he's decent..he was great because he brought what needed. Doesn't matter what you call those players, the point is we need a big body to play next to Bosh and help cover up for him, 215 lbs Battier and a 33Yo Haslem (after another leg surgery) won't be enough when we face real size.

WILL WHOEVER WE GET PLAY?....my pick is ODEN...and yes, I do think Anderson is special.....I didn't follow anderson until he got here, did he always play center?

Yes the Bird has always been a decent BACKUP CENTER.

And yes i believe most of these players (not all) , if we get them, will play and really help.

Battier and UD got more playing time then they deserved most of the playoffs because we had no other choise.

If Birdman was 24 and couldv'e played more minutes last year, we would have played him more.
He can't, That partly why we really need one extra decent big.

Greg has the best potential defensively and on the boards.

definitely the best option for the amount of money we have.

i chose oden but speights would be the best outta the bunch. powerful guy that can score and is a semi-devent rebounder. mostly though he has size and strength up front we lack

Whoever saves us money.

Birdman I HOPE takes the vet min. People forget he's 35. He might try to get the MMLE because he only has 1-2 years left in the league. He has been a back up most of his life so... it would be terrible for us if he makes us use our MMLE.

Oden for vet min.

He will not play anyway, only in garbage time. I remember we thought Eddy Curry would get some minutes. Didn't happen, only when the games were over.

Our roster is set honestly, doesn't matter who else joins because they aren't playing.

I read some article saying we could use our MMLE on Oden. **** NO that better not happen, we should be smarter than that. It would be like paying Eddy Curry an MMLE once we got him back into shape.

Both these guys should be signing up for the VET MIN.

I think with the revelation of Haslem's injury and needed surgery we need two bigs... One center and pf ... For center I'm all for Oden and Dalembert... And at PF... Odom and Antwan Jamison... One for the mle and one for the vet min. All for have a connection to the Heat, Miami, or a player in some way and I think they all fit.

Speights, and I think he can come cheap.

Dalembert is the only one the Heat should use their MMLE on since he's the only one that would automatically start.

Oden is still a question mark and although the Heat should pursue him, it should only be with the vet min. Same with Birdman.

Dalembert/Birdman/Joel
Bosh/Haslem

Solid bigs.

the choice here has to be Greg Oden. yes it is high risk but the reward is one that could catapult this team into clear immortality. I am not expecting Oden to be a 30 mpg player, or a double digit scorer. If Oden could give us what Zo gave us off the bench in 06 (not the leadership, intensity, fire because that is not Oden's personality but more the rebounding and rim protection). Imagine if Roy Hibbert or Marc Gasol is no longer double the size of our biggest center? Oden has one thing you cant teach and that is SIZE. not just tall or long(Birdman, Joel), not just wide(DexPitt) real size. if he pans out we literally have no weakness. you have to take that gamble.

also he is so young, their are several players older then Oden who have came back to be some form of productive and the beauty of it for us is we don't need to rely on Oden to be amazing immediately or ever be a high minute player.
