Tough pill to swallow but with Barg should be the started, That leaves you with a a role player making 21.6 million. Not tax friendly.

Agreed, in theory. What happens though if he gets healthy as a 3rd big for the Nets? Or Lakers? Or Bulls?
Realistically though, if they do, one of the teams with cap space will bid somewhere around $2-4m. That's a really good gamble on a potential starter/key bench big.

Knicks already screwed themselves by amnestying Chauncey Billups. They'd have to trade him away.
Doesn't make sense to get Bargnani if he comes off the bench though. And they still have Chandler... and Amare shouldn't be coming off the bench, not with that money but his health hasn't been good past 2 seasons.

2)They can't amnesty him even if they wanted, They already amnestied Chauncey Billups.

Forgot about that! Haha, they're stuck with that contract until its an expiring then!
The Bargs deal makes them deeper, and gives them a chance to spread the floor & let Melo post up as a 3, or go a full spacing group with Bargs at the 5 - ala Bosh. I don't hate it, and they're one of the few teams that could just cut the tax cheques & be cool with it.
