Camby is not happy about the trade to Toronto and wants a chance to contend. Toronto is reportedly looking for a place to send him. Anthony would give Toronto much of the same (but less rebounding) and is much younger. The salaries match up and Anthony is Canadian, which might make him appealing to Toronto. Would you trade Anthony for Camby?

First the Raptors wouldn't do this. Second, Miami wouldn't take back a contract for Joel when they can amnesty him and pickup Camby once he is waived and we save money on the cap.

I do not want Marcus Camby, I do not feel he fits our defensive structure, was basically useless in NY....If we can't/don't get anderson/oden...someone will shake free

Uh, because Camby is a much better rebounder and a better post defender. We are playing for now. Toronto is not. If we are talking about taking the roster spot of 40 yr old Juwan Howard, Camby's age really shouldn't be that much of a factor.

I'm not sure I'd do it because I am not sure Camby is an ideal fit in our defense, but as a rebounder and shot blocker he is still a proven commodity.

If you are assuming Toronto waives Camby, then they very well might want Anthony. The Bargnani trade appears to have been at least partially due to Toronto's need for some defense in its front court and Anthony can provide that. And for the Heat, they'd be better served by amnestying Miller than Anthony. Miller's role for us is really just as a spot up shooter and we use him pretty sparingly at that. Good spot up shooters can be found for a fraction of the cost, especially when you consider the luxury tax ramifications.

But Camby wouldn't be taking Juwan Howard's spot, it would be Joel Anthony as you suggested. Big difference.
I would add Camby at the end of our bench but I wouldn't trade Anthony for him.

Also, at this stage, I just don't know how much of a better rebounder Camby is. I do think Camby - and a rock - have better hands on offense than Anthony.

Well, no player has a specific designated roster spot. I expect us to try to add another center and probably one with more bulk strength, so there would be room for Andersen, Camby and Oden (for example). I don't expect Howard to be on the roster (unless he is added late in the reason like this past season).

I don't know that Camby would play ahead of Andersen either. For that matter I don't think any C we would sign would. But that is not a reason to not add depth at C. Injuries do happen and Andersen's re-signing is not a given (although it does sound like everyone wants it to happen).

I think Camby is still a pretty elite rebounder. He played so little this year so it is hard to derive too much from his numbers, but he was still an 11.5 rebs per 36 minute guy. The year before he was over 14 rebounds per 36 minutes, which is elite.

Camby was injured most of last season and didn't do squat to help N.Y. Name even one memorable play he had last season. Joel is younger, healthier, and probably the far better overall player at this point. At least we know that Joel can fill in spot minutes without issue. He knows the defence very well and outs always prepared. I actually don't expect us to amnesty him unless we sign Oden. Otherwise Joel is a valuable reserve.

I'd honestly rather have Stonehands over that old geezer at this point. I don't see his contract as that annoying either, it's obvious Miller will be amnestied after next season.

Camby's health is just bad, forget about it.

In 2011 we were ridden with our bigs who were just injury prone, tired of that. Don't want it again.

Camby didn't last long in NY, and for good reason. When he did play, he was fine, but he'd get injured again...

He is also 4mil man... not worth it. I'd rather keep Joel hahaha.
