Wait...Why dont people realize
That if the Big 3 opts out in 2014, Miami will then have more cap space than anyone other team? Are people really this stupid or am I missing something?

Apparently you're missing the other 12 EXACT SAME threads on this board.
I guess we'll have 4-5 of these every week for this entire year.

The problem is not the Big Three opting out. I hope they opt out, that would give us much more options and they're likely to opt out anyway. The problem is them breaking up which I don't think is likely.

People have no clue what the CBA is.

This whole tax conversation wouldn't even be a conversation if Micky would get a fair TV deal. You have the best player in the world, with two other superstars, millions of people want to watch this team play, he should be getting a fat TV contract, about the size of LA's or bigger.
There are so many **** sitcoms on national tv channels that can be replaced with the Heat and they will get a ton more hits.

I wonder how viable it would be for the Heat to get a national TV deal, as opposed to a local or regional one. The the best of my knowledge, all other NBA teams show their games on some kind of regional channel. But the Heat may be "popular" enough and have enough star power to be able to get a deal with a national network that would broadcast Heat games not only in the South Florida market, but across the country. I think the Lakers' deal pays about $2.5 million per game and although that is in a big market it is still a regional network. If the Heat opened up negotiations with national networks, they could presumably get more than that. The Heat play a lot of big network nationally televised games, so the deal would probably only get around 60 games a year, but at $2.5 million per game that would be around $150 million per season, which would make luxury tax issues a virtual non-issue. I wonder what the new Fox Sports 1 channel might be willing to pay to be the official TV home of the Miami Heat?

I think the holdup is lebron resigning...It's going to be hard to get Fox Sports Florida to commit to a big long deal with the possibility of lebron leaving. The vast majority of people are tuning into to see lebron.
^Same thing with a national deal. Only other team with a national station is the yankees with YES. Lebron is the reason most people watch heat games. I think if lebron resigns a longer deal, our chances of getting a big tv deal go way up.
If lebron leaves, heat viewship goes way down. In 2009, the following teams had higher ratings than miami.
celtics
bulls
cavs
pistons
rockets
lakers
bucks
suns
kings
spurs
jazz
