MMLE - Who should they use it on?

Now with Greg Oden signed to the minimum, who do you think the Heat use the MMLE on? Mo Williams? Another big man just in the event that Oden doesn't work out?

I wouldn't mind Mo, but I don't think it really matters. Al Harrington would just create a logjam if signed so really no need for that. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing them pick up another big for insurance purposes.

I doubt we use it. Remember, we're still over the tax, so if we use the MMLE that's double whatever we spend. Doubt Micky wants to give a journeyman that much money when we just amnestied Mike.

Definitely Mo.
I doubt we use the MMLE unless we dump Joel, though. And maybe not even if we do.

nobody, mo is NOT worth the mmle, stop it. Micky Arison isnt taking that type of a cap hit for a 2nd or 3rd string point guard.

$3 mil isn't really all that much for a backup PG. The issue is the tax. If we can lower the tax burden by unloading Joel, maybe Arison will be more inclined.
It does kind of suck that we're cutting corners to save money, though. Arison's a billionaire and we have a shot at a 3-peat, something that's only been done 3 times since the 60s. Do I blame him for not wanting to spend $8 million after-tax on Mo Williams? No. But it still sucks, especially as one of our direct competitors is getting set to spend $87 million in tax money.

I don't really see the need for Mo Williams at all. Yeah he's a solid player and did well when playing w LBJ, but I don't think it really adds too much to the team.

The obsession with Mo Williams is out of control.

I agree. Enough with the Mo convo. I like the idea if Haslem getting splinters in favor of Ivan Johnson.

We need to just waived Joel. He's useless.

I think the different opinions re: Mo really have more to do with the different opinions re: Cole.
If you think Cole is a decent backup, you probably don't care about Mo. If you think Cole is among the worst backups, you probably want Mo.

Mo would be a great fit for this team and an upgrade over Cole (and possibly Rio, as blasphemous as that might sound).

Mo was a great sidekick for LeBron in the regular season, but he was a choke artist in the playoffs when LeBron needed him the most.

No one else is giving Mo Williams any offers, are they? Let him come for the minimum if he wants to come to the Heat. I would like to have Mo Williams because he plays well with LBJ and could be a spark off the bench, but there's no need to use the MMLE on him.
Save the MMLE for the deadline when players are getting bought out after being traded. Much more valuable in that situation than now when the pickings are slim.

Mo definitely choked in the playoffs, but it's also one thing to be the 4th guard in a 4-guard rotation and another thing entirely to be the second best player on the team. His role would be so much smaller in Miami that I don't even think his choking in Cleveland is relevant.

You could say that about Lebron...I would think by now we'd realize you can't do it all on your own. Mo wasn't cut out to be a 2nd option. On this team he'd be a role player which is what he is at this point

Why would anyone worth the MMLE be bought out?
