Seen this topic on another board; laughed for a couple minutes then thought about it.
Would y'all be open to the idea of inviting Beasley to training camp on a non-guaranteed contract? If you would be open to it, do you think he could change his ways due to the personnel we have now? Since it's a non guaranteed contract, we can cut him off anytime so I don't see any risk.

Not sure where this Beasley talk is coming from or why. IF he gets bought out it might a subject for discussion, untill then there is no point to even consider it.

What was pheonix thinking? I would think any team trying to tank would be interested in beasley.

Yeah this is silly. Are they really going to buyout the final two years of his deal? He's not giving back money.

Michael has so much growing up to do. He is not displaying professionalism at all. He is not mentally ready to play on a team like the Heat. We will check up on him in two years.

Not sure if I ready this correctly but I saw someone saying that since he got arrested the Suns can waive him and pay his salary over mulitple years. So if his salary was 12mil for 2 years they can spread that out to 1 mil for 12 years.

Think it was called a 'Stretch' waive.

No idea if this is true and how it affects the Suns cap but I think this is where the talk of possibly being able to sign him is coming from.

If Beasely is waived for being a pot head and getting arrested there is less than zero percent chance that we sign him.

Riley has a habbit of kicking pot heads off our team like Rodney Buford (although wasn't Odom supposed to be a big pot head? maybe Riley just never caught him) so there would be no chance that Riley signs someone that just got kicked off a team for being caught with pot and arrested.

you know me I am a huge Beasley supporter. I still think he was the right draft choice at our position. However I would have to say no on Beasley. He needs a year or two out of the league. Like Ricky Williams he just cant say no to herb even though its derailing him. I am all for giving a guy chances but Beasley keeps messing up over and over. He doesnt learn. He will never have the work ethic to focus on his game if he keeps smoking. Might be too late for him to turn it around. Some habits are hard to break. He has to prove he can change. Its sad really because I really thought he had the talent.

I didn't lose sleep when he was traded. I hated him.

Strong words. It just pot. Kinda goes both ways. Dare I say Beasley is giving pot a bad name.

imo they shouldnt buy him out they should let the "random" drug tests happen and let him pay off his mistakes in fines

I have a hard time believing that Beasley is one of the lowest character guys in Suns history. Richard Dumas had a far more serious drug problem than Beasley. Beasley is just a pot head. Dumas was a cokehead.

I doubt Riley would take on Beasley again, I don't think the organization liked him much the first time around. Plus I'm sure Beasley will want to go to a team where he can actually play.

He should just sign on a team where Pot is legal, and live his life.

Arizona is one of the worst states in the Union, it is no surprise a fool like this has a job there.

To be fair, the expectations for Beasley were different than they'd be right now. Back then, he was the #2 pick for a rebuilding team that needed scoring alongside a resurgent Wade. We wanted him to be that, but So never ran plays for him (instead dumping the ball into black hole Jermaine O'Neal in the paint).

We used him incorrectly from the start. Beasley really started to hit his stride halfway through his first season with the T'Wolves but got hurt and lost his rhythm for good once Derrick Williams and Kevin Love came back. I used to love this dude and agree that he's made some idiot decisions that have me scratching my head.

But the talent is still there. If he is bought out, consider bringing him on a team of veterans and professionals (the complete opposite of the youth movement squad he first joined in 08) and test his mettle. If he pans out á la the Oden project, that's another young prospect Miami can build upon as our stars start to age.

If not, cut him. No problem. Low risk, high reward. We might as well use one of our last roster spots on an end of bench gamble. What's the worst that could happen? It's not like he will ruin the team's chemistry.

It's funny how the media portrays Beasley into some super bad character dude because he smokes pot. You would think this guy was a terrorist from some the reports read over the years.

Beasley is immature and dumb, not sure if he'll ever grow up and thus will be out of the league soon.

There will be a lot of lottery teams wanting to sign him up as there go to scorer aka Tank Commander this season if he is bought out.
