Best Idea Ever: Nicknames on Jerseys

Apparently this upcoming season the Heat will play one game against the Nets with both teams having their nicknames instead of their real last names on the back of their jerseys.

Ray Allen says he'll wear "Shuttlesworth" on his. How awesome is that. Lebron will probably go with King James, unfortunately Wade will probably choose "Three" or something. Flash is copyrighted so that probably wouldn't have been a choice anyways. Though that would've been great.

I personally think every team should do this for atleast one national tv game. It's fun to mix things up, once in a while. What do you guys think?

This is really gonna gonna give me a nice laugh, and another thing to look forward to once the season begins.

It's really a great thing for the league to do to touch on their creative side by having the great classic nicknames
of these players officially recognized and being embedded on the back of there jerseys for at least one game of the season. I love it.

Please Wade, don't use three. It's terrible. Use Flash even if it doesn't apply anymore

Miami forward Shane Battier -- who wasn't exactly thrilled about the nickname idea -- said he wanted to wear "Batman" on his jersey, though was told that Warner Brothers holds the rights to that name, and other players have also had to deal with copyright-related issues with their suggested monikers. Battier said he'll go with "Shaneo" instead.

I think the league will be able to make a bit of money off of this.

I'm not a fan of it at all. I hope it's just a short-term gimmick. I'll take this over t-shirt jerseys though. Screw those.

Very corny idea if you ask me...The NBA is reaching too hard. Having nick names on the back of a sports jersey is not very professional for an athlete...

D-Wade better not use D-Wade (just adding one letter to his jersey ) or Three (that's terrible :nonono:) Use Flash

Also, I know LeBron will use King James so I won't have to worry about this, but I cringe every time I see 'Bron Bron' ... she's that's terrible

What's Bosh gonna use? CB? ... Raptor?

Ray gonna use Shuttlesworth 8-)

haha...see this is exactly it. The regular season is long enough, as it is. These kinds of gimmicks, especially since this one is only for one game will be will be fun. I don't know why people are down about it. For one game, I think this is fun, this kind of goes back to the 90s, when real nicknames were more prominently used by announcers: The Reign Man, The Round Mound of Rebound, The Glove, Thunder Dan Majerle.

I don't know I for one can't wait for "Shuttlesworth from the corner...BANG!!!"

Glad they never did this with Shaq in the league. He would have 20 names on his jersey.

This seems really gimmicky, especially for the players without nicknames

I think the NBA cares more about selling millions of "King James" jerseys as opposed to whatever nickname James Jones will use...
