Heat Finalizing Extension With SPO

Two-time NBA championship coach Erik Spoelstra is finalizing a multiyear contract extension with the Miami Heat, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Coach Erik Spoelstra has led the Heat to three straight trips to the NBA Finals. (USA Today)
Spoelstra could've become the most sought free agent to hit the coaching market since Phil Jackson, and likely staved off a bidding war next summer by choosing to re-sign with the only franchise he's ever known.
The deal is expected to be made public before the start of the Heat's training camp in the Bahamas this week, sources said.

Good for Spo! One thing I've come around to is what Arison is doing. Riley doesn't have alot of years left, so putting Spo and Andy E in a position to get alot of credit while Riley is around, will play a huge role in the future of the team later.

As harsh as I was on Spo before, I now support him wholeheartedly. He has become an elite coach and actually does help the team. Good for him and for the team.

I still don't like him and his rotations. He has improved but I feel this has more to do with Wade/James/Bosh. Excellent defensive coach. I'd say on par with Mike Brown honestly.

I would have been angry at the extension seasons ago, but now I'm in a happy mood. Spo has prevailed over those who doubted him.

I still dont trust Spoelstra but 2 championships is on a great track heading to 7th season.

He still has some flaws, but if you didn't know Spo was going to be a great coach his first two seasons, you were out to lunch. Definitely fair to complain about his Spotations and such, but we should all be very grateful to have him coaching this team.

I've criticized Spo a lot throughout his tenure as head coach, but the man deserves this big time. Works hard, is improving every year. I'm sure I'll still be complaining about some of his lineups and rotations

I wonder what he'll get. With two titles he should be over 5 mil a season and 4 years. I'd probably guess 4 years 22 million.
