Wade: "We have guys that got paid a few times."

When asked about 2014 FA, Wade mentioned how guys in the locker room including him aren't looking for the next big contract. He said:
This is a great situation to be in...
We don't have young guys looking for their first major re-up to get paid. We have guys that got paid a few times.
Is he possibly hinting that he'd be amenable to possibly taking a paycut next year or atleast not go for full max? Because that would be wicked. Just curious what you guys thought.

I bet Lebron signs the max, Bosh signs for 16ish million and Wade takes a 13-15 million dollar contract to keep them all together. Bosh/Wade have the same agent so they'll talk with each other to take less money.

Ideally LeBron signs the max, and Bosh/Wade sign for 12-14 million/year contracts

Ideally none of them takes the max.

This.
And that is what i believe is going to happen.
Lebron makes so much more money off the court, i highly doubt he'll insist to get a few extra Mil$ when he knows it will hurt our ability to build a strong roster around him.
I expext the big 3 to make around 45Mil$ combined for 2014-2015 (with yearly raises after that), that will allow us to keep Oden, Beas, (if they both work out this season) + Rio, and bring in at least one new quality addition like Jordan Hill/Okafor.

Agreed. Make LeBron the highest paid guy if necessary and give Wade and Bosh a little less. At this high point, I highly doubt any of these guys care about being the highest paid guy though. They know how much Miami and the Heat appreciate them. This is a concept that has brought them a lot, I'm sure this is one of those situations where they won't worry about sacrificing some money.

To be honest I think Wade should be looking at the ~12 million range. Given age/health, it's a reasonable amount for his production as the (as he admits) second option. I also think it's dangerous to low ball Bosh--this is the situation Allen ran into in Boston. Dude signs here, is asked to make the biggest sacrifice of the big 3 in terms of touches, accepts that reduction with grace, and then you use his reduced role to justify underpaying him? He's a max/near max guy on the FA market even now -- he's on LMA's level -- and I think Miami should pay him appropriately. If Lebron is willing to take less than the max, great, but if he wants the max pay him and thank the lord for max contracts allowing us to underpay him lol, he's worth twice the max.

In Wade's case, a lot of it depends on his performance this year. If he can prove to be healthy for a full year (save for the usual nagging injuries) including the playoffs, then 12 million would be a low-ball offer as well. If he has another year like the last one, then that's a reasonable amount, but if not, you have to be careful not to piss him off as well.

Yea the Big 3 and all the vets have got paid a few times..The younger guys like Chalmers, Cole, even Beasley if he produces could look for more.

Were talking about the Heat here. They will work it out. This team aint the team of horrid contracts like some others teams out there. In Riley We Trust.

Wade knows he can't carry a team anymore and that all 3 guys are being measured by championship now. Wade/Bron both make so much off the court that why would they ask for the MAX? By winning, they make more off the court than the few millon they would make on the court. To me the wildcard is LeBron. Does LeBron want to go some where else and begin a new challenge. LeBron is the type of guy and player that knows how good he is and doesn't have to settle because everyone says thats the right thing to do. Either way, we have to enjoy this year and no matter what happens, we had one hell of a ride! I for one, will try to make it to the most games possible as you never know what tommorw will bring.

If that's the case, then he's on a rapid decline.

In the playoffs, I fully agree with you, but his regular season was still first option worthy. I sure as hell hope his last playoff run will be remembered as his worst of all time.

It depends on Wade's production this upcoming season. If Wade actually bounces back, stays healthy reclaims himself as the best SG in the league then 12m is a lowball in itself IMO. Because it would mean that Grover did make a significant impact on Wade's body and thus he'd be training with him every off-season, staying in tip-top shape. Wade is only 31, not 35.
I'd say 14m would be a lot more reasonable. I'm really not sure what LeBron and Bosh would command, ideally they all agree to sign less than the max but wouldn't be surprised or upset if one or both got it.

i'm more interested in the length of their contracts than the amount to be honest. that would be a much more telling hint at the direction Miami wants to go.

The Heat doesn't even have anybody that deserves to get paid besides the Big 3 honestly.
Heat got a roster full of 1 to 3 million worth players.
If anybody and I mean anybody besides the Big 3 wants to get paid, Pat Riley needs to hit the laugh track and drop they ass.
Cole getting paid... lol
Chalmers getting paid...lol
Beasley getting paid...lol
Greg Oden getting paid...lol
Lebron should get 16 million, Bosh and Wade get 12 million.
That's that.

Disrespectful to say LeBron SHOULD get 16 mil. Even more so to say "that's that".
LeBron should get paid absolute maximum that he can.

Demanding a player like Lebron gets 16 is the definition of ungrateful
