Norris Cole

Post#1 » by Phinsoverpats » Mon Oct 7, 2013 3:36 am

I wonder how he improved this offseason, he is one of the better back ups in the league. I hope he improved his shot & passing out of the drive. I also heard a trade rumor involving him?

I dont buy the trade rumor, it makes no sense at all. Our staff like Norris, He just shot lights out in last year's playoffs, He's a hard worker that improved during the offseason. And we actually need him, We only have 2 real PG's on the roster, him and Rio.

If someone can add the link to that article about the things Norris worked on during the summer...

I do expect him to be better this season, if he can become a knock dowm shooter like he was in the playoffs and make better decisions, he will become a top backup PG.

Norris Cole looks more comfortable

The backup point guard has spoken of wanting to be more consistent, pointing to his play in the playoffs. The Heat tasked him this summer with upgrading his mid-range game.

"Me as a quick guard, I get past my defenders a lot, but it's a matter of making a play once I get by them in that medium range," Cole said this week. "You can't get all the way to the rim every time, so making those floaters, those pull-up jumpers is going to be key for my game."

Cole was able to get to the rim regularly Sunday, even talking a little trash to Joel Anthony after one layup.

Kid's growing up, it appears.

Although it was just a scrimmage and barely any defense, Cole looked great last night. Extremely fast and had great handles. It looked like he worked on his crossover/euro step too while getting into the paint, did it multiple times.

I was thinking the same thing why would they trade this guy? He's a pace changer that they need off the bench

WTH is all this talk about trade rumors. If its just to start some controversy again with our team then wow thats hilarious. Norris has learned so much from our vets to ignore the noise, sounds like hes handling this the right way.

I haven't heard ANYTHING about the Heat trading Cole, this is so strange.

Lol Sam Amico? I believe he was right about something before other people were, including Woz from Yahoo. I believe it was that Dwight Howard debacle, can't remember.

I hope Cole does ignore it though, things like that can affect a person's game.

Cole is improving every season. His jumper has greatly improved, a tenacious defender, and he is finally finding new ways to finish more effective (euro-step, floaters, etc.). He needs to work on his court vision and playmaking but he still has plenty of time for that. Cole needs to stay on this team.

I think the great franchises are good at drafting and cultivating talent, which is exactly what we've done with Cole. Hope to see this guy play his whole career here, just like Wade, Haslem, and Chalmers. He's a good young asset and no idea where any trade rumors would come from.

Given that he brings something off the bench, is young and cheap, it doesn't make any sense to deal him unless you can (somehow) package him with Joel and get a quality rotation guy in return. I don't see that kind of yield happening.

We actually have a really bad track record grooming players; Cole is a rare success.

I doubt we are shopping him, but it would make sense to at least see what's out there. Back-up PG on a team with Wade and Lebron is probably the least important position in the rotation.

I still don't get the whole "Miami doesn't groom players" thing. On our own roster, you have Chalmers, Wade, Cole, and Haslem as incontrovertibly successful cases of player development. Then you have Beasley, who had his best years in Miami. To say nothing of the fact that Lebron has developed tremendously in this years here.

I didnt mention anything about Miami's track record grooming players outside of the fact they've done a good job with Cole.

Sam Amico at Fox Sports Ohio quoted some exec who anonymously said we're shopping him and also that it's a "shame" the Heat would be contending for a title this year because Spo isn't good enough to deserve that sort of success. Good stuff.
