Is bosh one of the most underrated defenders in the league

I don't think he gets recognized for playing so good on that side of the ball, he's got to be one of the best in the league as a big man defending the pick & roll & he protects the rim.

He is. Guards 4s and 5s nightly, but gets out there to trap and defend guards when needed. How many bigs could've run the length of the floor to block Danny Green in the corner like he did in Game6? His weakness is he gets bullied by a giant like Hibbert, but there aren't too many guys that big. Duncan went off on him in the Finals, but it's not like Bosh played bad defense on him. Duncan made a lot of tough shots in the first halves of those last few games. Shots falling with Bosh all over him, and a hand in his face. He made Bosh look bad, but it wasn't because he played bad. Sometimes you just run into an all-time great player having a great series.

He hardly fouls is what I notice, I still feel that he can block a lot more shots if he were more aggressive on that end. That also contradicts the not fouling part lol.

I think he is...
His help defense and pick & roll defense are outstanding. His post defense is pretty decent too. His shot blocking isn't the best, but imo it's not that "important".
The Heat defensive identity is mainly pressure defense and quick rotations. And I think it's that part, where Bosh is so underrated.
He's one of the best bigs in the league guarding the perimeter.

Yes, he is an awful overall defender that get killed by every center in the league!
Your love for Bosh is ridiculous! how the hell can you say that Bosh is a good difender!

One of the best pick and roll defenders, and an above average man to man defender in my eyes, not really DPOY worthy, but he's still above average.

he really needs to average more than 8 rebounds per game. he can easily get that if he improves his effort and hustle.

Bosh is a good defender when he wants to be but he's not consistent. and I love Bosh this is just coming from someone who watches the plays I cant tell you how many times I watch him stand flatfooted and lift his arms up instead of jumping to contest the shot. Maybe its to not get a foul called but he could easily be a top 10 shot blocker in the game if he tried.

As others have noted, he's a great and versatile perimeter defender for a big. He's decent enough to hold his own in the post against all but the biggest and/or most elite back-the-basket scorers in the league, so he's about average there. Problem is he's weak on the defensive glass. Part of is that, yes, our schemes often pull him away from the rim. But at some point you gotta step up and make a play. It's not like we were crushing it on the defensive glass last season (in previous years we've been top-10 even with our scheme), we were terrible. So that hurts him in my eyes as a defender.
Overall, good but not great. If he could improve his drb% I think you could start to call him great despite the limitations as a post defender.

whats about the rest of the PO' where he has been nothing?! what about the series vs Indiana, Chicago and SA where he was outplayed by a 38 years old TD?!
Please....

Very good summary.
I think one important point is that Chris keeps improving on D. He came from a lost, defenseless Raptors team and has become a very decent defender in his time with us.
I keep bringing up our Center situation when talking about Bosh because i feel it has a huge impact on how we view him and his contribution. I believe that if we put a guy like Oden next to Bosh, a big guy that will take some of the pressure off of him, Chris will shine even brigther. He's trying his best but he's not the banger bruiser type. If you put Oden on Hibbert and tell Bosh to guard West, You'll see he can more then hold his own on defense.
Also Bosh did average 1.7 blocks (almost career high) per36 in last years' playoffs and had some clutch defensive plays. Hopefully we play him more minutes next to another big man and help him shine even more this year.

Basketball isn't just about stats and Bosh does a lot of work for us on both ends of the floor that doesn't show up in the boxscore. Let's not pretend as if Wade didn't have some massive stinkers in there. The only consistent force in there was LeBron, so if you go by that, it's only LeBron's chip. Basketball doesn't work that way though and we're good enough to have a team where somebody else always steps up.
You don't have to like the dude's game, but at least be rational.
