Miami will be putting on some special warmups before the game starts.
I would add the picture in the tweet but don't know how.

They look very similar to last year's jacket
Last year's jacket
This year's jacket
I have last year's jacket, but I think the front on this one suckered me into wanting it.

Random thought I was thinking of just the other day......defending NBA champs should have somewhat of a mark in their jersey in regards to the championship they won and wear 'em all throughout the season. Probably will have mixed reactions to this idea, but that would be an interesting small add-on. Not sure if other sports do this already or so tho

No reason to do this. Heat are champions for LAST SEASON. This season still needs to be played. This is not boxing where your championship belt is at stake.

Italian soccer teams do it. The league champ wears a patch, the cup champ wears a patch, I think they also wear the club World Cup patch too if they win it. It can get a bit messy though if a team wins everything like Inter a couple a years ago

National teams also add stars for World Cup wins, some go their regional championships as well (eg African Cup of Nations).
This would be easy to embrace and add to, whilst providing a point of difference between older vs newer jerseys. We all know the NBA will jump at anything that increases jersey sales.

Was reading some of the comments and one tired phrase always annoys me
"and heat fans wonder why people hate their team"
Uh, we don't wonder, and we don't care. We know our team is hated and why, get over yourself.

if it were any other team, it would be a non-issue, but god forbid the heat do something commemorating their championship for ONE GAME.

I completely disagree, its their title to lose. They are the champions for the year until someone takes them down. I would agree if they wore them all year, but on opening night where they are honored for their championship I get it.
But in reality its just a revenue stream because they know passionate fans like you and I will go buy them just because its different than the typical jersey they wear.

If you read the original poster I quoted, he was talking about wearing it ALL SEASON which I don't agree with. I am more than OK for the team to wear it on ring night as a celebration for their accomplishment.

I can't see very well in the posted pictures, but along with the gray "2013 NBA champions" there are some slim gray lines.
Are those lines formed by repeating the phrase "suck it, chicago" in tiny gray characters ?
If not, they should.

The commenters probably don't realize this is an NBA thing, not a Heat thing. Every team wears special warmups on banner night, and since the Mavs in 2011 have had special gold-trimmed unis. The Lakers didn't the previous two years, maybe because their unis are already gold.

I think those laker teams that won the title has patches on their banner night jerseys. I know the first time the heat won in 2006 on their ring night they wore their finals jerseys with the trophy patch. I think the whole special jerseys for ring night started with the 2008 celtics. Here's a picture of Paul pierce from that game. The celtics logo is outlined in gold.
