Why is LeBron so passive?

I know it is early in the season and it s not that I m too worried right now but am I the only one who thinks LeBron is playing overly passive. I mean for the first two quarters basically all he does is running arounf the perimeter or throwing passes in the post to Udonis Stone Hands Haslem. I get that he wants everyone to get involved but he should look more for his shot. Like in the 4th quarter against Brooklyn where he operated aggresively from the post.

You'd think after 3 straight Finals appearances and 2 straight championships premature regular season concerns like these wouldn't happen...

Lebron has random stretches of passivity for no apparent reason, he's done this throughout his entire career. It's always been a bit of a mystery.

He looks as slow athletically as ever right now, though, and I'm sure that's contributing to it.

He hasn't had much time to work on his body due to tours, wedding etc. Expect him and the rest of the team get better each game. So many games in last 3 years played take toll on every human being.

LeBron did have a busy summer with his wedding, touring, marketing for NBA2k14, some other crap we don't know. Last year he had the Olympics, so he was even more ready last year imo. He will eventually find his way, but I did find his body language disturbing. Even someone I know who doesn't watch basketball much saw the game and said how "LeBron didn't look right".

He doesn't seem like himself, but he seems to be coming out in spurts, hence that wild 4th last night and that 45 point 3rd quarter barrage in Philly.

LeBron knows he is important to this team, I don't expect him to take much longer to adjust.

LeBron last night didn't even have any lift at the end there, even getting blocked by Pierce. It just shows you he doesn't have his legs under him yet. I'm surprised he even made an effort last night in the 4th. But he isn't his usual animated self, which I believe Van Gundy pointed out too. Dude's just lethargic right now.

This. He isn't in the game shape he's used to being in; he's said so himself. I wouldn't call it out of shape, but not up to the absurd levels we've grown to expect from him. I think he's probably trying to pace himself so he's able to play the 35-40 minutes, rather than being gassed after 25.

obvioulsy 3 games is too small of a sample size to make it a real concern...at this stage is more of an observation

I noticed the same thing, and I haven't seen him like this ever. He's having trouble blowing by people, staying in front of his man, jumping.. etc. I'm hoping that it's because he had an extraordinary summer and he'll eventually get back to dominating.

Also, I might be reaching, but did anyone else notice that he changed his shoes when he came back in the 2nd quarter to Lebron 10s.. and it seemed like he got some of his lift back? I noticed he changed back to the 10s during the 76ers game too.

LeBron just got married. Married sex ruins the core. Give him about a month to recover. Those are sex legs I see out there.

Amazing to me how some of our guys get coddled. Its why I appreciate guys like Jordan, Iverson, Kobe. You all can say what you want about its early in the season, he just got married, whatever excuse you want. But when the ball tipped up, those guys were going hard every night, preseason, 3rd game of the year, game 7, whenever. And it doesn't make me any less of a fan than any of you by saying this but its obvious LeBron and Wade dont give it their all every game.

Eh, people choose to be hard on their players in spurts. I do find that there's always a group amongst the fans who are "apologists" for everything, and then the group who are "worriers" for everything. Both get old after a while and stifle meaningful conversation about the game, but you deal with it I guess so long as there are still people who can respect both views.

He literally did the exact same thing to start last season. I remember everyone saying "lol LeBrons not even trying yet".

GOOD!!!
I want him to sleep and rest through it as much as possible at the start of the season. Not a single person has shouldered as much load as LeBron has over the last 3 years. Hell, the guy has been one of the most overworked bulls over the course of his career. Not to mention the mental aspect of it all and the constant media glare. I know I would've lost it before gm6 ECF 2012 and gm7 finals 2103. The defense, play-making, scoring, rebounding. He does it all for us...

He will slowly round into shape by the end of the month.. Also helps his game develop skill wise since he is not there physically.. I mean, the guy is still averaging 23/9/6 on 53% fg%.. even while playing like this..
Un-phucking-believable..

If by December this is still the case, then it would be a concern. But three games in after he admitted he didn't have enough time to get into game shape this summer...not so much a worry.
