Forbes Values Heat at $770 Million, 7th in NBA

Current value: $770 million
Revenue: $188 million
Operating profit: $29 million
The fortunes on and off the court continue to soar for the Miami Heat since the arrival of LeBron James as a free agent in 2010. The Heat captured its second straight title in a seven game series with the San Antonio Spurs. TV ratings on Sun Sports surged 43% and were the second highest in the league. The Heat locked up more than half of season ticket holders in a unique three year ticket renewal option. The team's improved fortunes also generated a revenue-sharing check for its landlord, Miami-Dade County, for the first time since the arena opened 1999 in the amount of $257,134.

Pretty sure Arison can sell for a whole lot more than that value if he wanted to. It's a championship franchise, great arena with a great location.. Buyers will pay more for the Heat than they would to buy the Dolphins.

I think the most important is the operating profit and we are ranked far away from the top ! We are making the same amount of money than the Raptors lol

Yeah.. Thing is we got a sucky TV deal before the Big 3 era, else we would've had made some great profit.

The TV deal pretty much is the ultimate rebuttal to the whole "Bosh Lebron and Wade had this planned for years to join together" conspiracy theory. If that was true, and Riley would obviously be the first to know, pretty sure they would have held out on TV deals till the Big 3 era formed and got a national deal like the Yankees.
Some would say, why would Riley care about the TV deal he doesn't profit. Well first, we don't know what his salary looks like, probably gets paid like a King. Second, he definitely would care because luxury tax wouldn't be an issue with a mega TV deal.

The TV deal expires at the end of next season. I believe that there will be extension talks at the end of this season and we will get it up-to 50-60 mil per annum at the very least (from the present measly 20 million). Assuming that we retain the Big 3 of-course.

If the team was in LA/NY with this roster, they would get double the money the Lakers got from their TV deal.

we are operating in profits, some teams there operating in losses.
as long as we operate in profits, this shows we can keep big 3 for quite long

Heat are one of the best run organizations in the league, and our operating profit is $29 million. Knicks? Who can't tell ther a** from their shoelace? $96 million. Just crazy how much it helps to be in a big market. All this luxury tax stuff is still a joke.

I made the ranking based on the Operation profit/loss
As you can see the Heat is ranked 11th with the Raptors, they are in the 2nd tier. I will say it's not so good when you have teams like the Spurs or the Blazers over us ! They should make their own TV or something, ok in America the market is rigged
but in Europe or in Asia, the Heat is the team people want to watch !!! Ok they have a deal with Sun Sport but i think it's only in USA if i am not wrong !
Teams with a huge Payroll are still making MONEY and a lot of MONEY
The Knicks despite a team payroll of $87 Million are still making a $96 Million, that's insane ! Ok ok a big market !
Even the Nets with the highest team payroll : $100 Million are still making a $19 Million
How can the Rockets make so much CASH !!! $64 Million that's INSANE ! LINSANITY's EFFECT ? Not sure about it, it will be good to know what kind of TV deal they have with China/Taiwan
The 76ers are only making $3.8 Million with the lowest team payroll (remember the NBA salary cap for 2013-14 set at $58.679 million). Tanking doesnt pay lol

I used to live in Portland/Oregon and the Blazers had a pay per view League Pass for their games when I was there back in 1993. So I definitely know and understand how they're getting their revenue especially with the Sonics leaving the Northwest.

Considering the Heat were chasing Lebron and Bosh, they could have made a deal with Sun Sport to wait after the 2010 summer or put a clause to be able to renegociate the contact and signing a HUGE contract with the BIG 3. Ok it would have been risky but it would have given them a lot of CASH !

Yet still about $300 mill behind that embarrassing **** show in Davie (The Miami Dolphins) and about $50 mill behind the Oakland Raiders, the lowest valued NFL team. It really puts into perspective how massive the NFL is here in the U.S.

Not anymore. He has since sold those shares back to Nick Arison.

Whats the latest on that tv deal ? last time i heard there were some pretty good numbers thrown around havent heard anything for a while ... just curious
