How good is Norris Cole?
Guy's a winner. Bet he could be a starting PG on a few teams.

Re: How good is Norris Cole?
Yes he struggled this year but anyone who thinks he isn't still a very good basketball player, someone we can depend on in the playoffs, with championship pedigree, is kidding themselves. That's all Ill say

He played great at the beginning of the season & really improved in every aspect...Then the past 2 months came & he was easily the worst Heat player on the floor. If he continues to play like he did today & earlier in the season consistently then I would agree he can be a starting PG on any team in the league

Re: How good is Norris Cole?
I'm a fan..I am not sure how you guys are rating him. A PG on this team should be given the benefit of the doubt, any role player on this team should given the benefit of the doubt...just look at what we ask Cole to do.....Of course he has bad games..BUT - on my TV, he had a more effective game than BOSH.........who gets less of the benefit of the doubt....
He'd be a starter or a great backup PG for many teams and would give us problems......

Re: How good is Norris Cole?
Ive always said that when he gets his own shot its ok. When you relegate him to a spot up 3 point shooter from the corner then he is not ok, thats not his game. Everyone played well, except Bosh. Would like to see more from him. He hit some threes and good blocks but terrible game.

Re: How good is Norris Cole?
C'mon guys. This was the best game he's played in a month and he had 7 points, 2 assists, and 2 turnovers in 29 minutes.
He's one of the worst rotation players in the league. Even amongst back-up PGs, he's a below-average scorer, a below-average play maker, a below-average shooter, he turns it over too much, he's undersized, and he's got no ability to defend any other position. Toney Douglas is a borderline NBA player and has looked just as good as him, if not better.
He brings very little to the table. His one redeeming quality is that he's not Mario Chalmers, meaning he's not prone to entire games of mental errors.
Kid's got heart and I like his work ethic a lot, but he's just not very good, and he's too old to believe he'll get significantly better.

He is a good talented player but he can't stay consistent during the season I understand players will have their hot and cold moments but the way he was hot then crashed and played like a scrub was unacceptable hopefully cole works out harder this summer on his shot

I think you're being to harsh, he is not one of the worst rotation players in the nba. No he would not start on any other teams and his size is a major detriment, but his on ball defense and his speed are above average, and his shooting is average to above average. Before we had him players like jj barea abused us as quick small guards who could penetrate and draw the d. So I classify your rating of him entirely too harsh.

This season, he ranked 66th out of 70 PGs in PER, 70th out of 70 in value added, and 70th out of 70 in estimated wins added. Statistically, he was the worst rotation point guard in the NBA.
Of all qualifying players in the NBA this season, he ranked 5th worst in value added and 4th worst in estimated wins added. Of all players who played 20+ minutes per game, he ranked 5th worst in PER. He is objectively terrible.
Like I said, I really like the kid. I'm not trying to pile on. He has a great work ethic, a great attitude, and he seems like a good person.
But how bad he is has gotten lost in the shuffle as we talk about Indiana, Wade's knee, LeBron's back, Bosh's softness, Beasley, etc. He really adds just about nothing. I think your description of him is very accurate. He's basically a JJ Barea-stopper. That is his sole function. He is brutally awful on offense and very limited on defense because of his size. Back-up PG absolutely must be addressed this off-season unless Cole shows up in a huge way this postseason. For all the talk about our lack of big men and athletic wings, Cole is by far our weakest link.

Cole is a scrub. I am not sure why so many Miami fans overrate the Miami role players.

He's a back-up point guard that plays next to two ball dominant players, well Lebron is the point guard.
Most of the Heat's roster is useless and it sucks and most of them wouldn't get playing time for any either other playoff team.
The only players that are worth anything on the Heat is LBJ Wade Bosh Birdman Beasley
Everybody else is strictly there to fulfill a very narrow function. Haslem is there for toughness, Rashard, Ray Allen, Mario and JJ is there to shoot, Shane is there to play defense and Cole is there to push the ball up to the court and play defense.
The 4th best player on the team is Beasley and he doesn't even play. Spo doesn't play dynamic bench players, he just plays players that do a very small things. Most of the bench can't even do anything without Lebron on the court and they'll just stand around when he is on the court. Most of the bench doesn't even have basic functional basketball skills like dribbling or passing or even the ability to make a layup.
Norris Cole does his job, he often pushes on the break and he keeps the Heat from getting abused by every athletic guard because Mario Chalmers can't stay in front of a chair.Bruce Bowen has horrible PER, most players that only do two things or one thing (and it's not volume scoring or shooting volume threes), got crappy PER because PER is a volume production per minute stat.
Like WD said, can't really judge a Miami bench player because being a bench player here means you do one thing and one thing only.

Have you ever seen him play on another team or under another coach/system?
We're criticizing a guy in the playoffs who plays for for Our Team...who's trying to Help Us Win....what's wrong with this picture?
Which one of those points or assists you want erase from the box score ?
Perspective please
