I know the season is not over and we are awaiting to find out our opponent for the finals. But, I got bored and started to think about who would take the Heat to the next level as a team. Obviously, the Heat are a great team. Only 3 teams in the History of the game are able to make it to the finals 4 years in a row and that is pretty amazing.

Its even more amazing when you think about they are doing it with a flawed, but versatile roster. They don't have a true center unless you wanna talk about Oden. But he barely got any play time and sounds like he is still working himself back to shape after missing all those years after the injuries.

Watching this team play, its obvious to see they thrive in the "pace and space" system Coach Spo created. They are exciting to watch especially when they are dialed in. Their defense and offense can become pretty scary when they are desperate like last night.

Watching that game and many other games when Battier was starting and hitting his shots, the team goes to the next level when the "strech 4" is hitting their 3 pointers. Rashard unlocked our offense and just blew open the pacers defense. You could see even Bosh was enjoying the extra spacing afforded by having Lewis in the game.

Up to this point, they have done it by committee. Battier was amazing the last two years, but he has regressed. Lewis had been struggling with his shooting up until game 5. I would love to continue starting Lewis and hopefully he continues to hit those shots.

Ryan Anderson would be the ideal PF for Heat. I know he is under contract and there is no way for us to get him under the new CBA. But what other players do you think would be able to fill the same role?

I like him. Hard to see him falling to 25 tho.

IMO I feel bosh is the perfect fit. Absolutely love him.

However, without looking at the financial aspect of the game, besides taj Gibson and obviously the brow, I doubt anyone really fits in our system and is versatile enough to fit into our defensive strategies.. With the way we blitz PGs, we need a versatile big that can not only defend the paint but is athletic enough to gain ground.

I dunno.. Just my opinion.

I mean, best fit in the whole league? Probably Kevin Love or Ryan Anderson. Kawhi Leonard is probably up there, too.

But semi-realistically, I'd be interested in guys like Jeff Green or Jared Dudley. I actually think Paul Pierce is kind of interesting, but man that would be hard to swallow.

Rashard Lewis (for another year).
If we win this year, I expect Heat to resign Lewis and insert him at 4 next year.

We need to spend most of our salary cap to resign big 3s, and then resign Mario(or replace him), Allen and Birdman. Sign some decent wing player(s) to back up Wade so that Wade's health is maintained. I don't want the front office to think that LeBron is indestructible forever either.

Will be no money left for a PF to make a significant difference over Lewis who knows the system and works well within. As long as we are wining championships, there is no reason to go away from small ball.

Adrien Payne would be an amazing get for Miami. Offensively, he makes Miami even more difficult to play against. Providing even MORE floor spacing, able to finish at the rim, finish with touch and catch lobs. Defense unfortunately is a work in progress, hes a very good shot blocker, just gets lost with assignments. Given our crazy rotations, I have no doubt he would have a steep learning curve with us on that end.

This offseason is sooo difficult to predict with Miami. They have so many options in the retooling process, I know Riley will make the best of it. It feels like 2010 all over again for me.

If we're being realistic and not just throwing out a MAX player (which is pointless) it would be Draymond Green. How we missed out on this guy when he has the body/strength of a hybrid sf/pf, incredible IQ & well-coached under Izzo, and is already impactful on both ends (especially defensively) is beyond me. We traded out of that pick that draft and could have nabbed him.

Missing out on a player like that when we're so tied down with $ hurts big time. I mean the guy has all the physical gifts & smarts prototyped for our brand of small ball & defense. He even came in with incredible references and experience. WHAT THE HELL threw him off our radar??

as of free agents

i would not be against a guy like Marvin Williams

he is Big and athletic, has become a good shooter and is only 27 so would provide some "young" legs

also could try to grab a Danny Granger... if he opts out

the perfect PF for us does not really exist

it would be a 6'9 255 guy who can shoot,create some at times.. is fast and athletic enough to switch on Pick and rolls and is overall a great defender and rebounder

mix Udonis Haslem and Rashard Lewis into one player and make him 6-7 years younger... that would be ideal^^

Marvin Williams isn't the worst idea...if he's willing to take the vet min. Not really exciting option but might be ok, don't really trust his shot or overall game.

Im guessing we'll keep Lewis and Haslem as backups Power forwards, so we really need a starting caliber player. Marvin Williams is more like another backup player.

as i said in my first sentence i would love for us to get him, he would be everything Lewis gives us plus consistent defensive effort just 11 years younger, would be great

Im looking at Marvin's stats right now, you might be on the something. He disappointed as high pick, but he had a decent couple of years and seem to be shooting the long ball a bit better-36% this year, and that's playing on the awful Jazz. He might get closer to 39% if he played here. He's young, has decent size, mobile. Can probably be added for smallish $$$ which is a must for us.

Im not sure if he can defend, need to scout him further. Overall he might fit here nicely if he can continue his upward trend...good find mate.

We can be on the Payne train all we want.. but if we don't trade up then our most likely destination will be somewhere like Minnesota or Atlanta. I don't want to go to either of those places.

Boozer for the min. Allows us to focus on another athletic wing in draft or free agency. Shard and UD can still back up.

I don't like the idea of Marvin Williams. In terms of tools, he has a lot of what you'd want for our SF/PF spot next to LeBron. But next to the Big 3, it is so easy for guys to just float. Even Bosh struggles with this at times. The reason players like Birdman and Ray Allen have fit in so well as role players is because they are specialists that ALWAYS make an impact. Allen is ALWAYS spacing the floor, even when he's not touching the ball or playing especially well. Birdman is ALWAYS providing energy. Those guys make themselves matter even when they're going 3, 4, 5 possessions without touching the ball.

Marvin Williams has spent his whole career making himself not matter. He just fits in. He never does anything good or bad. He is the definition of empty minutes. On a team like the Heat, he's going to be absolutely invisible.

Something like this would be great. He isn't as bad as Chicago fans rant on about defensively, and even if we are struggling with him on the floor, we have more mobile options like Haslem, Lewis or whichever PF we draft.

I'm a big fan of going after someone cheap in free agency and going through the draft to sure up our positions. Boozer gives us a big need in toughness inside and someone who can push people around and grab some rebounds. Also already a great shooter from midrange to help stretch the floor.
