Rank the "big 3" teams

Post#1 » by Valkyrie » Sat Jun 14, 2014 12:07 am

1) 2011-12 (Wade coming off prime year, LeBron in take over the world mode, Battier and Cole added, if not for Bosh going down IND/BOS series woulnd't have been as tough, also Miller and Haslem back making a formidable bench, won finals in 5 without HCA)

2) 2012-13 (27 game win streak, Ray Allen added, Wade's decline starting to show, Birdman added, pushed to brink by Pacers and Spurs)

3) 2010-11 (First year together trying to gel, ran through the East and Boston and Chicago, very poor bench, Miller and Haslem hurt, Wade still in prime, LeBron now the villian)

4) 2013-14 (team gassed and older, Beasley and Oden added but make no difference, no more Mike Miller)

There's really nothing to add. You hit the nail on the head.

Year 1 was about figuring out how to play together, and they still almost won it all. Now due to Wade's knees they have to figure it all out again. Assuming they all come back, the solution has to be Bosh stepping up to be the #2 offensive option, and Wade coming off the bench in a limited Ginobili type role.

I will say one thing, I had the most fun during the 10/11 year up until the Finals and then the road to redemption in 11/12.
In 10/11 the hate was ridiculous, we started off struggling, everybody was writing us off and then we started clicking. I still think that the playoff path we had in the 2011 playoffs was the most difficult up until to this point. The Celtics were at their best compared to the years after and those Bulls were tougher than any version of the Pacers. We were supposed to lose to Boston and stomped them 4-1, we were supposed to lose to Chicago, got blown the f*** out in game one and then went on to win the next four. The best game was the last one when we turned what seemed like a sure loss around and beat them on their home floor. And we've had some ridiculous performances where at least 2 out the Big There just went off (sometimes even all of them) and for all the good team basketball we played in season afterwards, it was fun when they just went nuts and the opposition couldn't do s*** about it.

Then 2012 came, we had even more pressure on us, the season was shortened, but this team was on a mission. We lost Bosh in the playoffs, Wade looked done, but we survived due to insane performances from Bron and eventually Wade too. In the Finals we get rocked in the first game, everybody celebrates Durant as the new king of the league and then we stomp them winning four in a row.

In 2013 we obviously had the 27 game winning streak and then the epic Finals, but I thought the path to the Finals was a little less exciting because the depleted Bulls in the second round were nothing like the Pacers the year before or the Celtics the year before that and then I felt like the ECFs just went on longer than they should have.

This year was a down year, with the regular season being a drag and then the playoff series being relatively boring. Just like last year, I never really considered the Pacers much of a match. They could've made for a nice 2nd round series, but not an Eastern Conference Finals battle. They could give us trouble, but in a game 7, there was never a doubt who would win. Hopefully we can still end the Finals in an insane way, it'd only do this team justice because it seems like we have this every year.

1. 2012 - Team was on a mission nuff said. You could see it in their eyes. I knew there was no way this team was not gonna bounce back, and boy I was right. Down 2-1 to the Pacers, down 3-2 to the Celtics, down 1-0 to the Thunder. That was one crazy ride but they still pulled it out

2. 2013 - Historic run and great ending. There were times when I had 2011 flashbacks, but those concerns were erased later on

3. 2014 - ??? This will be easily my #1 without a doubt if the Heat manage to pull it off. You never know right?

4. 2011 - The season was a crazy ride. I remember bumpgate where Miami was like 9-8. Then had a stretch of something like 21-2 or something (I can't remember the exact numbers).......the Celtics and Bulls series was SO much fun to watch man. Clutchness overload right into the haters' faces after being the opposite of that during the RS. We know how that ended sadly....
