No excuse for him at all
The old mavericks team with only one old all star Dirk took this SPUR to a 7 games series.
We with best player in the league and another 2 allstars and more playoff final experiences almost got swept. It's 1-4 for Christ sake!
His lack of ability to develop young talents , his stubbornness to try anything new / risky even when we are facing elimination, his mindless loyal to DW and RIO.
When our team gets older especially wade gets older, the small ball simply does not work so well as it used to be. Yet all the time when our small ball does not work, he goes even smaller and overusing Lebron.
SPO turned Chris Bosh into basically a perimeter shooter, and when DW resting this much in reg season, he did not even try to set some plays for him, and even try to make him our 2nd option.
when we got bad calls and our best player can't even get a foulshot, his answer is : it's not my job to complain?
one thing I can't stand the most is he always always 1 step too late to call timeout.
I fxxking hate him

Is not developing young talent spos fault or Riley's fault? It's an old team, Beasley and vole were the only two "young" guys on the team and according to most if you all they are terrible.

ok lets not lock every Spo thread. This is a serious issue and not a troll. For 5 years its been the same crap. This time we didnt get bailed out by godlike 3 point shooting.
I swear the inmates have been running the assylum for the Heat.
No offensive sets
Not incorporating Beasley
Not trying to integrate any of our bigs
Not letting the PGs initiate offense with outlets to 3 great players in Wade Bosh and Lebron
Fire Spo and his hand off assistants except the guy who coached summer league.
I have had enough of Hero ball year after year.
"let him create" screams we dont have a plan.
Hire Billy Donovan. Get back to real basketball. That is all.

We've got to implement a defensive system that doesnt drain our players.
We've got to implent an offensive system that maximizes Bosh's game. He's one of our star players. Him being just a 3 and D guy has finally caught up with us.
We've got the best player in the world in LeBron. We have to figure out a way to get other guys going.
It would help if DWADE develops a consistent 3 point shot as well.
We need two athletic guys off the bench. A new rim protector and better pg play.

playing beas was the final draw for me. I mean..he doesnt play the kid then suddenly in the last game of the season he plays him? You either stick with it or you dont make people like fools.

He got thoroughly outclassed by Pop and he showed little will to go away from his system. Beasley should have been developed this season, along with Greg and Wade's maintenance plan.
The players had mentioned throughout the season that the trapping was an issue and they changed their coverages for 1 game in the RS after the lost to the Hornets, ironically they did show a zone to San Antonio earlier this season.
His system really faltered this postseason and I have questioned his unwillingness to make Bosh the #2 option for 2 seasons, Bosh deserves much better. Rotations next season have to be much more solidified and less inconsistent so that they can potentially play as well as the Spurs' bench did this postseason.

Riley brings Beasley and Oden, SPO refuse to play, even when Beasley shines a bit here and there, SPO benches him as soon as he made a dumb play. I did not see SPO go hard on RIO or COLE, they always get a pass.
even Liggins and Hamilton, how many minutes did they get in the regular season. can they play much worse than Dwade and Birdman?
I assume that coaching job can't not be much easier with tons allstars / formal allstars / high BBIQ veteren.
SPO is just another Mike Brown 2.0 at best

Erik Spoelstra is the Heat's head coach. And he's going to be the Heat head coach for a long while.
Let's stop overreacting. Let's stop letting emotion override logic, here.
Riley lost 3 NBA Finals with Jabbar, Worthy, and Magic spearheading the attack. That includes getting swept in the 89 Finals by the Pistons, after beating them in 7 the previous year. Sound familiar?
The Heat will retool, and Spo will continue to evolve as a coach.

Completely agree! I couldn't believe it when Beasley came into the game. How is a ROLE PLAYER supposed to know his ROLE if he isn't given one?

Lebron & Bosh is a better 1/2 punch than pretty much any other team has. That has to be the foundation going forward.

Still doesn't changed the fact that he got outcoached, and refused to made any defensive and lineup adjustments until his back was against the wall. Let's not pretend like he's a great coach because he's not. It's not an overreaction, it's a fact. If he were good enough and trusted some of the other guys like Beasley and Douglas in the reg/season or even in the early playoffs, then they could've made a difference, but he didn't trusted them and relied on his star players to bailed him out when the Spurs figured out his offensive/defensive schemes. Spo is a decent coach, but i hate when some Heat fans are always trying to coddle him and make him out to be a great coach on the same level as legendary coaches like, Riley, Phil, Pop, etc.

Here is the thing Pat showed more in adapting growing than Spo has shown. This is basically giving the keys to Ferrari to a kid who just got his license. Do you think Lebron wants a coach learning on the job? A coach who thinks its not his job to fight for his player? Its a different era today. With another coach we could have won the Dallas series. Learning on the job cost us 1 title.

Not if LeBron wanted him gone.

I might be overeating. but what if lebron does not have the patience to wait for his evolving?
Lebron will be 30 next season, he can't play small ball carrying this much of load night in and night out. eventually he would get tired and maybe already is. He needs strong inside presence for rebounding, he needs help defender to protect the rim, to play lock down defense on other team's key player. Then we will see the real quality of Coach SPO.
I don't see Cavalier with much lower expectations get enough patience for Mike Brown.
