Reviewing Dwyane Wade's season.
He showed some glimpses and what's important to note is that he had some terrific performances against quality opposition teams. What stood out to me the most this season was the drop of 30+ games, only have two of these is a little worry moving forward, however in 50% of his games he played this season he scored 20+ a games. This demonstrates that he can be the #2 option with Lebron, i'd take a player scoring 20+ games in half of his games and shooting a high percentage. Since Wade delegated the role of being the #1 option to Lebron he has adopted his game and is picking and choosing his spots, he never really took unnecessary shots and usually takes high percentage shots. To be honest we are seeing Wade decline gracefully and evolve his games, you no longer see him soar over big guys and attack them rim as fiercely he once did, hence the low free throw count. Wade know's his game and to me he has evolved his game, you see him in the post now where he savvy, strong and skilled enough to score and make the right play against other guards even forwards, which is an encouraging sign to help prolong his career. Wade's jumpshot, although i really believe he will devote his summer working on a catch and shoot game from long range, he has always been an underrated midrange shooter. He is a great rhythm shooter especially off the screen around the elbow area and off the dribble.
PLayoffs
Lets have a look at the numbers shall we.
Postseason:
1st round V Bobcats 4-0
points: 17.5 only 1 20+ game
assits: 3.8
Rebounds: 3.3
2nd round V Brooklyn
points: 18.2
Assits: 4.2
rebounds: 3.8
Had an important game 5 to close out the series with 28 points and scored in multiple ways, jump shots, post ups, transition, cuts, over great and taller defenders in livengston and Johnson.
ECF V Pacers
Points: 19.8
Assists: 4.7
Rebounds: 4.3
This series was D-Wade's best he also recored 1.7 steals a game and there were moments where he took over small parts of games when Lebron was resting. He was scorching Stepehson in the post and I've always questioned why Spo didnt use him more in the post.
Finals V spurs:
Points: 15.2
Assits: 2.6
Rebounds 3.8
This was a horrendous finals campaign for Wade, shooting a terrible 43% from the field. The most disappointing part of this was his lack of urgency on defence and was painful to watch, only he knows why this occurred but it wasn't necessary the points that defined his terrible finals performance, it was his heart and intensity, a player who is known for these intangibles definitely did not live up to his traits. His first game was great, probably was the best player in the series up until half time had i think about 13 points and looked good, showed his entire arsenal but it soon went south after that. The defining moment of this series for Wade was when Lebron left the game and the game was still up in the air, the moment came for him to take over… it never happened.
It was a really disappointing end to the season, he talked about the postseason all year long. It all started with the Durant beef, he then made a commercial about the postseason, but unfortunately he didnt show up.
