Udonis Haslem Opts Out of Contract with Heat

Post#1 » by JLop » Sat Jun 28, 2014 4:04 pm

"I believe Udonis Haslem has a wink deal with the Heat and is just following procedure. The veteran Heat enforcer has opted of his deal with the Miami Heat. Udonis Haslem has opted out of his contract — Ethan J. Skolnick (@EthanJSkolnick) June 28, 2014 As I've been reporting, Haslem — now that he's opted out — is open to extension with Miami. Wants to be here. Wheels in motion. — Ethan J. Skolnick (@EthanJSkolnick) June 28, 2014 Haslem will be back in Miami for sure. "

With all the young players we might have we do need his veteran leadership. Idk about his playing time but that's another story

I fully appreciate Haslem for doing this, means he might accept less money too

I don't expect him to take vet min but just less money than he was gonna get

He's going to take less money, as well as the Big 3.

Everything's going to plan.

Good guy, hopefully anything he gets under the table is enough. I'm getting nervous with all these moves.

No under the table stuff needed. Heat don't deal like that. Haslem will get a longer deal for more guaranteed money to stay home. Win-win.

If you see UD around the 305, buy him a lapdance or a drink. He's sacrificed a lot for this team.

I doubt that. Pay cuts for all free agents to bring Melo. I'm nervous.

We already have veteran leadership with the Big 3. Perhaps Allen and Lewis too if they return. We do not want our 12th man in the rotation (UD played 14.2 mpg in the regular season and 10.6 in post season) to return simply to provide "veteran leadership".

I appreciate UD's past contribution to the Team, but now is time for him to move upstairs to the Front Office.

Is not that complicated. If you are set to make 4.6 mil this season on the final year of your contract and you know your next one won't be anything more than a minimum deal for one season, then the team comes and tells you that they will guarantee you $8 to $9 mil for the next three years at a lower per year figure... Which deal is better.. You do the math.

Exactly, Haslem shouldn't be asked to give up yet more money. He's already left a proportionately large amount of his possible salary on the table to help this team. Allowing the team to rearrange his salary is sacrifice enough. I hope they retire his number after this because his intangibles are what all Heat players should strive for. Attitude, Heart, Leadership, Loyalty, etc.

Haslem understands what Heat family is about and you don't screw family and get to call yourself a decent person like Arison is by all appearances.

That is being reported ... but I doubt it. He can't possibly be that tone deaf.

Yeah, I doubt it. But on the other hand, he definitely deserves it.
