How many years have I been on this forum now banging pots and pans begging for a legit Center. I predicted we would lose this year and we did. Frankly, we got lucky in 2013. We should not have beaten the Spurs. We got very lucky. There was a sequence of about FIVE different events in 20 seconds, that if ANY ONE OF THEM happened differently, the Spurs were champs.

Small ball is a failure against legit teams like the Spurs. We need a Center. Not to mention our defense is taking years off of our players careers. Wade's knees can't deal with this intense headless chicken defense, and it's going to take a toll on LBJ too.

Instead, the Heat want a PG. Even after we got a decent, young starting caliber one in Napier. Sigh.

Yeah that's what I want. A starting caliber true Center that isn't past 30 lol

Pretty much every year the team with the best center Rotation wins

2006- shaq, zo. Greatness combo of offense and defense
2007- Timmy, big z was no competition
2008- KG , Bynum was injured on the opposing team
2009 -gasol
2010- gasol
2011- Tyson chandler bullied Joel Anthony
2012- bosh bullied kendrick Perkins
2013 - bosh and HEALTHY BIRDMAN > Timmy
2014- Timmy bullied bosh and injured BIRDMAN

That's just off the top of my head
Stop being so disrespectful.

Man I'm afraid of us still using that headless chicken defense.

:nonono:

LeBron said he was never more tired than he was this year.......and thats while playing less minutes (I get the fact that he and others have played 4 straight finals.....but playing OUR WAY 4 straight years takes even more of a toll)

We need to go big....
Tired of getting killed on the boards as well.

Lowry over Gortat

I too have wanted a center for a while on this team. But as time has passed and our team has aged, you realize that beyond Lebron there is not a single player that can create on this team (Wade on and off). Our defensive system only is as effective as our perimeter defense allows. That requires athleticism, flexibility, and hopefully youth. Lowry is a couple years younger than Gortat, Miami will get his prime years.

Offensively with his outside shooting, driving ability, passing and defensively hounding opposing guards and limiting penetration I think Lowry at 10M/yr is better spent than Gortat at the same price tag.

If there was another center available or Gortat could be had at the 6M-8M dollar range maybe Id think differently, but frankly Lowry is the BPA at a position that under performed big time this year.

That's great and all, every Heat fan wanted a Center. The problem is Gortat isn't that great and already on the wrong side of 30. If we put all our money on him and he comes here and plays very meh, we're screwed.

Im really torn about this.

No way should we be choosing Lowry over Gortat. We need a center above everything else. It's the most glaring hole we have, period.

I do however believe Miami would be wise in addressing the center position by chasing Jordan Hill.

A HIll/Lowry offseason would be huge for Miami. Add the 2M dollar exception on another role player and the Heat are in a great position.

If we somehow get Monroe, I might consider tattooing RIley's face all over my back.

The real win would be to address both issues. Id be happy if we could get Lowry (straight cap space offer) and add a cheaper Center that might actually be as good as Gortat on our system, like Hawes or Hill (Worried about Gasol's health). Both of them are much younger then Gortat and have skills we need. We might be able to get one of them by a S&T, sending out Cole, some $$$ and a future second.

Yes, but not Gortat at his price range and with his skill set. Miami would be playing 10M dollars for a center to body up bigs grab rebounds and an occasional blocked shot. Lowry's role would be much more direct and impactful.

I understand the rebounding woes, but please explain how a guy like Andray Blatche or Kris Humphries cant come to Miami and provide the team with what they need on a much cheaper deal than Gortat?

Funny, because for the past 4 seasons, Miami has been paying Chris Bosh 19mil as a big man, and he doesn't block any shots, or grab rebounds.

I don't care if the Center we get is Gortat, or Jordan Hill, or anyone. I just want a legit C grabbing rebounds and altering shots in the paint next season.

Here is my issue with spending REAL money on a BIG, I am not convinced that a BIG at the salary we may can offer would be used effectively in our current system. i AM JUST NOT convinced.....A Big in this system HAS TO BE a featured player ala (SHAQ/ZO) - No big since those two have been effective.

Please just look at how we've played EVERY BIG SINCE......What you guys want requires an adjustment in our playing style on defense.....

My solution, sign someone who can help our offense and with ball handling and play-making to relieve lbj and make Anderson/ODEN combo work next year or adjust defensive center to accommodate a new NAME

I would love to be proven wrong......

I'm up for Lowry first because my concern for Dwade then Gasool, Hill, Blatche or Humphries can definitely help us down low. like the other poster said Lowry skillset would be more impactful than Gortat.

Why don't we get both? 8-)
