It'd surprise me to be honest. It was my understanding that the maintenance plan was mainly a result of the OssaTron treatment he received in the offseason. I also don't think it really paid off the way it did since it's hard to get into basketball shape and find a good rhythm if you constantly sit out games.

Yeah that was my problem too. If you spend the season taking more than a third of the games off, how are you going to be ready when you have to play every game?

Obviously we shouldn't play him 40 mins a night and give him some back to backs off but I don't think we will do what we did last year because we are no longer guaranteed a Finals spot just by showing up.

And even if we were, I just don't think it worked out the way we all thought it would. He essentially looked worse than he ever did in the Finals and it was either physical or a basketball conditioning issue. Either way, we didn't get the result we were looking for. If my memory serves me correctly, even in those games he looked good physically in the regular season, he at times looked out of sync.
And as you said, we're gonna need more from him as it is anyways.

Yeah I agree it didn't work out last year. What's funny was how everyone was praising it right up until the Spurs series as the reason for Wade's good play before that in previous series. People need to realize Wade is still a good player and can play well for stretches without some kind of story behind it. It could be something as simple as random fluctuations in open jumpers going in.

Hopefully it works as well when they're not on the same team

LeBron won't be able to bully Kyrie like he did Rio because Kyrie seems like a more sensitive fellow. Well no one can take it like Rio can! lol I bet he will miss his best punching bag, but I'm sure he'll have plenty of young players to yell at next year.

Some people are drooling over LeBron & Kyrie duo, but they are both ball dominant, Kyrie is an all star PG for crying out loud. I don't think it's going to be any easier than working LeBron and Wade duo which took about one full season to define roles yet continued to struggle with the balance at times the entire time.

I saw an interesting stat, Kyrie in the NBA has been one of those rare players who shoots the 3 much better off the dribble than he does in spot-up situations. He was at 30.1% in spot-ups or something like that. Doesn't mean he can't learn or won't be good next season, but it goes to show sometimes simple boxscore checking doesn't really give you an indication how a player will adapt to a new role.

Our bench sucked under Spo.

It will be interesting to see if that is the case with the Cavs.

Could it be one of the reason Lebron wants Ray and JJ is to teach his new young team how to perfect there shooting touch?

Any chance Bosh agrees to take a few million less so that we could make an amnesty bid on Boozer? We could agree to give him the full max if we lose the auction.

That is really weird. Could be a comfort thing in that he has been so used to having the ball in his hand on the dribble for most of his time on the court in the last 10 years.

What that also means is he has a lot of upside. 38% on 800+ shots while being bad on spot ups means he can probably get up past 40% fairly easily and if he gets it down could be higher than that. Probably more corner attempts too.

I thought it was a little less

I don't know why he has a 2nd year, if he has a good year I guess he can opt out

But if he has a good year that's a steal... Smh

we are set to be completely obliterated on the boards. backup 2 is the priority, but if we could get boozer to bolster the front line, that would be ideal.

In all honesty, he looked so good physically in the Pacers series that one almost had to jump to the conclusion of the plan working. It was all the more shocking that he hit such a wall in the Finals. It wasn't just that he wasn't playing well, he was so slow, didn't have much lift and had no more rhythm as a result. It wasn't even as if he didn't care or didn't put the work in to try and do better. It just wasn't there for him.
My theory is that this thing with his knee is unpredictable and can't even be controlled by a maintenance plan. It'll most likely just a part of him going forward where he'll have stretches where he just looks broken physically. Then he'll suddenly have stretches where he'll look like a top 10 or even top 5 player in this league. We're all most likely hoping that the latter one is there more often than the former. Perhaps the added responsibility that comes with the departure of LeBron will somewhat help with that.
