Well to be fair, we are also relying on a guy who has had knee issues for years and multiple surgeries.
This is how it is these days.
If he is fine now, then so be it. Sure it can flare up later, but there's nothing we can do.
This year's roster has some injury prone guys in general.

Not really surprised, only slightly disappointed. His knee was scoped recently and he said it was fine and he is able to play back-to-back. If anything, that means Ennis will get more playing time.

Or we can blame LBJ
hey let's say lbj convinced him to sign with the heatles knowing the knees needed more surgey
where the conspiracy theorists at
that said who cares, he wasn't going to play

It's a good and a bad thing !
Good thing :
- Then you can understand better now why he was performing so badly the last couple of years
- More time for a guy in the rotation : could he be Ennis ? Or someone else ?
- Maybe before he was still trying the go-to-guy but now i think he accepts more his role than before, so he is more relax about it
- We get him for a little price
Bad thing : Will he finally be back at a good level (not all star) ? It's a gamble, we will see if it pays or not

To me, what ever production we get out of Granger, is a bonus.. I don't think we're relying on him for anything, we're relying on Luol and James Ennis to fill the void.

good for Ennis and for the Heat, we need to look for youth anyway.

that back to back to back season did damage to many PG and SG's knees

I don't think it would be wise to expect Granger to be back to his all star form, however I would like for him to get healthy enough during the season to where he can become a dependable backup at SF/PF. If we can get - in 20 mpg - 10-12ppg and 4rpg from Granger with 43%FG and 36%3FG and solid defense, we should consider it a success.

All star form is so far out of the question it's not worth mentioning. I'd be happy with 8-10 points at above 40% shooting. We got him for 2 million for a reason.

Deng will be playing a good 35 mpg so Granger will only be playing 10-15mpg. I don't think this is that big of a problem.
