Jan 4th, Sunday - BROOKLYN VS. HEAT 6:00PM

If Indiana wins, and we lose, we are out of the playoffs... it will come to a point we could be the 9th seed. Do they have it in them to get a win... AT HOME? against a team they beat twice, who are now starting to win ever since Deron Williams went to the bench...? Napier has also been instrumental to both wins against Brooklyn... let's see how this plays out.

Every game counts.

That’s the message Heat center Chris Bosh has been preaching to his team recently as it slides through another losing skid. The Heat is in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings at the start of the New Year and, with one of its most difficult stretches of the season now here, Bosh is aware already that every victory or loss could mean the difference between simply making the playoffs or not.

“I think we’re to that point right now,” Bosh said. “Before, we had the ability and that strength to just show up, and we won a lot of games by just being there. A lot of them you had to play and eventually our talent and experience would overcome everything, but I think it’s just a different thing this year.”

In other words, the days of relying on LeBron James to win games are long gone. The challenges are many facing the post-LeBron Heat, and a combination of factors, Bosh said, has made an already difficult transitional season become a nightly battle just to remain in contention for one of the last spots in the playoffs. Bosh reeled off a list of circumstances on Saturday morning after the Heat’s shootaround that had the Heat five games below .500 at the beginning of January.

We'll get this one.

Loss tonight was just pure abysmal, I'm sure SOME sense of urgency will factor into getting this W.

They made adjustments and we didn't. They are now winning and we are not. It's laughable that we are below the blowing up Nets in standings, but we are. I'm predicting a loss in this one and in all the games we will ever play until there are some radical changes either to our lineup or our coaching staff.

With that being said, let's Whiteside.

**** it, I'm going to pretend they read the "should we tank" thread and decided we should.

I'm starting to root for loses from now on. Every win just gets us further away from what should be our goal - to get a top 10 pick (Or higher) so we don't have to send the pick to Philly. Get a stud in the draft. Try again next year. In the process, save Wade's knees and play as young as possible, build some players.

And lose. Just continue to lose. We're great at it anyway.

I'd be all in for the tanking, but I feel bad for Wade. He isn't going to be in the league for much longer, let alone play at the level he is right now.

For Wade's legacy, what will be the worst ?

Missing the playoffs without tanking ? Missing the playoffs on purpose to get that top10 draft pick ?

I mean i dont know what we get with a 1st round playoff exit ! Saving our egos ?

We'll turn it around and at least hit .500 by end of season. The defense will be figured out eventually, I hope :).

We're bad this year regardless, it's a choice between 2 options :

1) Continue to be bad this year, lose the draft pick (maybe miss the playoffs too, or just get destroyed in the first round), continue to play Bird, Cole, Rio, Granger and be even worse next year.

2) Hit the bottom this year, be VERY bad, but get a high draft pick, add a young stud next year, meanwhile play Napier, Ennis, Whiteside, (Even TJ and Birch), try to accelerate their development as much as possible (none of them is really that young), use this **** year to give them much needed experience and confidence. Bounce back younger, stronger, hungrier next year.

Which of these options will be wasting Wade's last few years?

Someone who was at the game (per reddit) says this team, other that Wade, have no intensity. Even when there were big plays, there was no excitement from the bench.

Also Wade keeps talking about the mental state of the team, which is true. Bosh kind of just... complains? I don't know. Bosh has been all talk and no show. Its disappointing from our max player right now...

As I said, the only time this team has ever made comebacks this year is due to WADE or Napier/rookies. We don't have a hungry team. We have players who are happy to have a contract BECAUSE THEIR CAREERS ARE OUT THE WINDOW. Besides Deng, I mean outside of the team if you think about it, just happy they got paid. Why would they play so hungrily for this team?

Also Spo is playing people out of position, just for the sake of his dumb system. He is treating Granger like he is a Shane Battier, the guy who made Spo's small ball work. Except I think Spo forgot when Shane would get eaten by PFs. Only we could recover thanks to Big 3, but not the case right now and it worked best with LeBron WHO IS NOT HERE. Spo STILL is playing like LBJ is here, and so is this team. Waiting for something to happen. Only guy is Wade who wants to take things over, everyone else does nothing, INCLUDING Bosh.

And now he wants Napier to play SG... when he is our better back up PG, is this dude serious? He wants our best play maker, to be the SG, and that creates even more mismatches for this team lmao. He wants his 2 guard line ups to work so bad.

If we played Napier-TJ/Dawkins-Ennis-Birch (or someone else, even UD)-Whiteside the 2nd unit would come in and be exciting and hungry. Napier-Ennis actually do well together, but rarely are together. We could be having a nice little bench mob but nope, gotta play players who won't be here in 2 years. LOL.

Spo's motto is "play to your identity"

except teams play to the identity of their coach, and Spo doesn't seem to have one. And this team is not buying in.

December 14th: Erik Spoelstra on roster talent: "We have enough."

If we have enough, then it's being mismanaged.

Garbage players and 1-2 year contracts do not attract good free agents only over paid ones.

Party on

Since the month of November I have been posting that we are in tank-mode. I also stated that this is a business and from time to time, the Heat are going to win (otherwise people wouldn't be watching those games). Ira Winderman published: "The Heat's March 6 visit to Washington has been removed from ESPN's schedule and moved up from an 8 p.m. start to 7 p.m." And then he added: "Shortly after that announcement was made, Wade was interviewed by a relatively small group of media at shootaround. "Ain't nobody want us," he quipped." Are we in tank-mode to keep the first round pick? What's really going on? Something else? Well, we'll have to wait until February 19 (NBA Trade Deadline) to know all those answers. During an interview Chris Bosh put it this way: "I just don’t even know what the point of this season — I don’t know. I have no idea." Followed by another question toward Wade: "Dwyane Wade, any thoughts? — "If I had that answer, we would not be in this situation," he said. "Bad stretch, you know … I don’t know, man. I wish I knew." Quoting the words of Magic Johnson, on his hope for the Lakers: "If you're going to lose, you have to lose because you can't be in the middle of the pack. You either have to be great or you have to be bad to get a good pick." What is the indentity of this team? Great? Bad? Are we in the middle of the pack?

Note:
Awesome battle the one we had last night. Both fighters are great and gave us the best they have, but Jones is just to big for Cormier.
