we would have stable rotations even with all the injuries that we have had during this season.not only that,he wouldnt be afraid to play the rookies and motivate them to play better instead of talking new age gibberish to them...i'd say that the heat would be at .500 or 4-7 games above that

We will see Granger vs Monroe with 7 minutes left in the 1st quarter... I can't wait

SVG has out coached Spo for years anyway, one thing about SVG is he can motivate his guys, and he is funny. I always liked him

Also SVG would probably be playing our younger guys, I bet Birch would be here as well.

Man Detroit in their run has been #2 in defense and #2 in offense. They will probably slow down but watching them reminded me of our 2004 team in terms of a lot of young guys killing it, not necessarily rookies but just young guys thriving and fun to watch. It's funny Butler is on that team too lmao

If anything watching them makes me impatient lol

This thread is so random, we just don't know if we would be better or not.

SVG showed he is a good coach but people in Miami forgets just how frustrated they were with his play calling and tight rotations during his stint in Miami. Then he took a very talented Magic team to the finals through a myriad of questions about his play calling and rotations as well. Sounds familiar?

It is not all dreamy with SVG as implied plus like old school Riley, he is the type that wears on his players too.

We would be over .500, that's for sure

Not calling for SVG to be our coach or anything but he would be doing better with our youth

Too bad Pat Riley chose Shaq over Stan.

Shaq sucked after 2006 and eventually nearly fought Pat and then forced his way out after he quit on the team and refused to play.

I can't help but wonder what might have been if Pat never traded for Shaq and kept Stan/Odom/Caron.

Long-term, that would have been much better than those 2007-2010 years were.

SVG has had some bad luck in his coaching career. He has had to contend with Superman, twice, and lost both times. Those Supermen were more like Bizarro though.

He was our coach at one time and he's been successful elsewhere + the turnaround in Detroit got me to think if he would be an upgrade over the goofball we got now.

And it's funny both those players left the team after forcing him out anyway

Now he has a big man again in Drummond, heck he has that Monroe/Drummond front court. No wonder Stan wanted to coach that team and get shooters. Waiving Smith was ballsy too. That team is shaping up to look like his Orlando teams, who was a match up nightmare for us...

Six games ago Detroit's record was 5-23. Surprisingly, no thread praising SVG as head coach.

Currently we don't have personnel to work well with SVG. No outside shooting no rebounding force.. we be so bad lol seriously.

Not many NBA coaches can do that much worse than SPO has done this year with what he has though.. I think.

We have lost a lot of close games, to bad teams

This team should be above .500, period.

The Smith narrative is pretty strong

The guy still leads the team in FGA after he even left

I mean this is probably an over reaction but this looks similar to Rudy Gay leaving Toronto and they become a better unit

When Detroit knocks us off as the 8th seed the praise is warranted. Indiana might take it first tho.

Agreed. The grass is always greener on the other side. I love old sayings, they tell cautionary tales.

Consider this, Stan's lost a player on every team he's coached. He's not just lost a player, he's lost a superstar on every team. He lost Shaq's support, and he lost Dwight's support. I said it on another forum, but while I'm happy for him, I'm just counting down to when he loses one of his current players. I'm not even talking about Josh Smith. Stan just kinda grates on players. Who's to know if we even win in 2006 with Stan. Then who knows if Wade even stays if he tuned Stan out like other players.

In any case, these threads are funny. I wasn't on here before 2010, so I can only imagine the threads before that were even worse. When Spo was first promoted to HC, I was really against it. He went from that guy who was always in the background by Riley to the leader of a team I cared about, and I had no confidence. But he's earned my trust and then some. Started as a defensive mind, adjusted to where he might be better at offense than defense now, has shown a willingness to adapt and adjust (even if it's not as fast as some want), and he's still young. He's also a stats and video geek, meaning he's actually in touch with the modern game and where it's trending.

There's a certain level of hypocrisy at work here. If the game of basketball is so easy that you can just throw a Lebron James in a rotation, and make every Finals and achieve record scoring efficiency, then do we really need better than Spo anyway? If coaching is such a small piece of the pie, then who really cares who's there? So long as he has the players' respect, right? The arguments don't make sense. People just don't like him, so they'll manufacturer excuses. It reminds me of another old saying, "you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone."

No doubt.. we lost to so many teams we had no business losing to... AT HOME!

Only Spo and his unthinkable truly unique combination of scrub players display can achieve what he has done. 5 games below .500 in Jan. with a team features Wade, Bosh, and Deng as starters (sure there are some injuries and other excuses but no team is immune to injuries and other roster issues.. most good teams are winning DESPITE injuries because they are WELL-COACHED good teams).

As good as she is with that hula-hoop in your avi.

Seriously.. we'd be better.

That's all really.

No really that's all, plain and SIMPLE.

Though I am one of the biggest Spo haters, so that all concludes into my biasness. :D

It honestly doesn't matter how GOOD SVG is, it's a matter of if he's better than Spo and I'd say that's a definite yes.
