Reggie Jackson
During the Big Three era, it was OK for the Miami Heat to get by with the two-headed monster of Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole at point guard. After all, the other two players on the floor aren't as important when you have Chris Bosh, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.
However, now LeBron's back home in Cleveland and the Heat offense is need of a boost. Chalmers has done his part, playing mostly in a reserve role. He's averaging 12.6 points per game, while Cole is contributing 7.1.
That's part of the reason the Heat find themselves 26th in the NBA in scoring (94.2 PPG). It also doesn't help that Wade has once again struggled to stay healthy and Luol Deng isn't the scorer he once was.
Jackson would give the Heat a more reliable scoring option at point guard. He could also take some of the facilitating duties away from Wade, who leads the team in assists with 5.5 per game. With Flash turning 33 in January, it would benefit the team to lighten the load on his shoulders to keep him fresh for a playoff run.
Bosh has done a remarkable job as the club's No. 1 option, but the need for a No. 2 is coming sooner rather than later. Jackson has proved he can step into big shoes and produce. If the Heat can dig up some assets to pull off a trade, it would make sense to do so as quickly as possible.

Ballboys be starting random threads..
1) Rio's PPG is 10.9, Cole's is 6.8. Team PPG is meaningless when not accounting pace.
2) We don't need a thread for every possible player someone wants.
3) Reggie Jackson is overrated on the Heat board, probably because we're desperate. He's better then Rio/Cole, but that's no saying much. 98% of NBA guards are better then those 2. Jackson is a career 28% 3 point shooter, not exactly the spacing you want with Wade. He's a decent player but don't see him becoming more then an average starting PG at best. You probably shouldn't sell the farm with future assets in order to get him (And we don't really have current assets OKC would want).

Can I say I Thomas is also overrated.

Whilst I agree with you it's still funny considering the players you are suggesting bringing in. TJ, Birch etc... Those you are really overrating.

I don't think any of them are overrated.
I think people just wanna give the younglings a chance and see what they got.
Better than what whatever it is we're doing now...

Per usual you're showing your cluelessness.
While TJ can be brought in for nothing and if he pans out could be kept for dirt cheap long term, (basically trying him out cost us nothing in money or assets). Just Bringing Jackson for a tryout along will cost us both current and future assets (in current players and future draft picks) add to that + keeping him long term will cost huge money based on him becoming a free agent for the first time and looking to get paid big time based on potential showed in a limited role.
The 2 are nothing a like.

I dunno about Reggie anymore. Apparently he's playing for a contract and chucking some stupid shots.

I don't know either
He is better than anything we have at PG who actually plays
Now the Heat did want Jackson actually but OKC took him first and then we got Cole.
Jackson was s fine player til he was jacking up shots for himself and not the team. I mean his teammates icing him out on the court cause he is playing now for the wrong reasons
This attitude of his is a turn off, apparently his defense also sucks according to OKC fans. He has potential tho, a better future than Rio and Cole
He not worth the Max tho... Maybe the contract looks better in 2016 if he gets it next year

Re: Reggie Jackson
Saw a trade idea thread for Reggie and some okc fans wanted Rio and Bird for Perk and RJ. Bird gives them a better finisher in the paint and I think Rio fits more on their team more since he wouldn't have ball handling responsibilities over there. It would get them under the tax line as well, and maybe we add 1 or 2 second rounders? I'm not sure that there are other teams out there that would go after him since we're one of few with teams without a decent PG in their rotation.

I would do that. We got worse tho at C, Perkins sucks lol. But we get some good cap space off, that's why I like it

We still get to keep Deng, Perkins is bad but at least he's big, and we get a look at Reggie as a starter playing with other good players.
Like who else would go after Reggie? The knicks? OKC fans are saying their team needs are backup pg and center, and we could provide that much more so than the Knicks. Reggie's trade value isn't really as high as people think.

Re: Reggie Jackson
I would check what the Bucks want for Brandon Knight before I send anything to OKC, I like Knight better.
I don't like PG's that cant shot 3's, especially next to Wade.
Knight will be turn out to be the better player over the next few years IMO.

I Love that deal. Can you send me a link that shows an OKC fan actually agreed to this?

I agree, but Knight might be more attainable through restricted free agency than trade atm. Our trade assets make much more sense on OKC than the Bucks since Rio would be an off ball guard playing with dominant ball handlers, and Bird is a better inside finisher than Perk so it gives their bench a boost. I just can't see another team really offering more than that for Reggie.

My goodness this is a breath of fresh air. Damn I can't wait for Wednesday already when Birdman can finally be dealt. They do need to get under the tax so I can see a deal like this actually happening. I would even throw in Granger as they could use a vet at SF.

Should wait till summer and try to go after Knight, we could move Bird/Rio and hope the Bucks don't match. Don't see Jackson as our future answer at PG.
Also by then we'll know more about Napier, and if get a draft pick. D'Angelo Russell is a stud PG projected to get drafted at #10.
Now is not the time to make hasty moves. We have very limited assets, you lose them for a bad fitting player and we're royally screwed.

The trade proposed by the OKC fan (Bird/Chalmers for RJ/Lamb/Perk) moves those players, and gets us a back-up plan for if Bucks match Knight (which I think they very well could).
Lamb is on the books for $3m & Jackson's QO is $3.4m. It also opens up the possibility of flipping Jackson for Knight in a S&T. If OKC are willing to do that trade, then I'd say go for it (& I'm not much of a believer in Jackson).

Re: Reggie Jackson
3-way with OKC & MIL works financially:
Bird/Chalmers/Granger/TPE (Lamb) to OKC
Perk/Jackson/small asset to MIL
Knight/Sanders/Lamb to MIA
OKC gets better fitting pieces & gets below the tax line
MIL uses a Knight for Jackson swap to move Sanders for an expiring C & another asset
MIA take on salary, but get a good long term upgrade & set our team for a strong PO push
2016:
Knight/Napier
Wade/Lamb
Deng/Ennis
Bosh/McBob/UD
Whiteside/Sanders
