JaVale McGee

Our third Michael Beasley experiment has been a mixed bag. He grabbed 18 boards, 4 dishes, 3 steals and 1 block in 103 minutes of play. He shot 12 for 27 from short- and mid-range and 8 for 21 from long-range. He displayed poor shot selection in his first game, multiple defense lapses in his second, mature and composed in third and multiple defense lapses again in his fourth and fifth. It is encouraging Beas' effective range seems to have grown from 10 to 16 feet though.
Part of Beas' lack of effort can be attributed to defensive lapse while other is simply because he is playing out of position at PF or even C sometimes.
JaVale McGee is a 7-foot offensive center with soft hands and decent defense. His arsenal includes dunk, hook shot and lay-ups. His effective range is 10 feet. Pairing him with our 7-foot Hassan Whiteside will create an insurmountable twin towers up front. We will see a lot high attitude passing similar to those between Dirk Nowitzki and Tyson Chandler. And the best part is, we can rent him for 3 months for pro-rated veteran's minimum.
I believe picking up JaVale McGee opens up a road to success for this team. Do you?

Interesting.
Depends on how much, not aware on his situation, a buyout is all I know.
I still would rather bring in Birch though.

You said Beasley shot 13-for-4? That's like 325% FG. Amazing efficiency.

Are we not clown-show enough as is with the current squad?

Imagine him taking out Dragic's knees with this clown move!

Do you even see a smidge of BBIQ in this play? I don't!

That never gets old!
OP is talking about
pairing him next to Whiteside. Not even the bench. Pairing a center next to another center...and that this pair would start some high altitude passing in the likes of Dirk Nowitzki and Tyson Chandler. You know, because Javale and Hassan are awesome at passing.
You on that flakka OP?

Our spacing is terrible. We lack 3-point shooting. We have 2 high quality centers in our rotation and our 2 main PFs are out. Hell No to McGee

LOL! Thanks for the breakdown. I didn't even read OP's suggestion and just rejected his idea because he was so hilarious with his Beasley evaluations. JaVale and Whitside twin tower would be something to behold. Someone is going to get hurt!
This OP...

We do have a big hole at the 4 and considering it is already March, there aren't a ton of players for us to choose from.
At least McGee brings size, effort, consistent shooting, reasonable defense and discipline in shot selection. Plus, he is good at swatting shots.
He will only cost us vet's min and our 15th roster spot. I think it is a good deal for us.

He is owed 12 million next year (and whatever is left for this year for the similar salary). Someone will sign him so that he can get back some of the money he loses in buyout should it work out.

I dunno if any team is gonna pay him more than vet's min at this point in the season. I think we can snatch his service for vet's min. In his own words, "I am still young. I just want to play." That will be a great deal for us.
