Pat Riley gives one on one interview with skolnick

Post#1 » by Heat_Fan_87 » Thu Mar 12, 2015 1:40 pm

"I'm not driven like I used to be," Riley said. "But I do want this organization to stay what it is. As long as it's on my sort of watch here, I still want to bring great success for Micky and for the fans. And I feel really bad right now, where we are, versus where we could be."

Sounds like riley has a few years left here, it will be interesting what the arisons do. Also, isn't pat like a 10% owner of the heat?

also said that riley found out about the bosh blood clots before the dragic trade went through.

I used to cheer for the Lakers back in the 80s. I remember him as a coach with brown hair.

If anything it sounds like losing Lebron brought back the competitive fire. He was ready to retire, but now it sounds like he wants to build one more champion.

I love how he described lottery picks. I love that attitude. That's a champions attitude.

Hopefully he is right and when he does retire, the infrastructure is in place to keep everything going. I really hope Spo can figure out this coaching thing too, because the continuity of having a coach here for so long is really immeasurable. And could really help keep us steady when Riley finally retires.

Plus I like Spo's Mini-Riley act.

I remember reading a few years back that he cashed-in on his 10% right around the time he went to talk to the Lakers and everyone was panicking in Miami that he was leaving only for him to come back with a deal for Shaq in place :D This dude is gangsta..

I hate the timing of this honestly

I knew after LeBron left we'd get bits of info as the year went on.

But things will be interesting in the next few years. There's a LOT of moving pieces going on right now... I forgot who even started at PF last night, or who's the SF, just so much ****.

This summer there needs to be some stability and its starts with Dragic and we'll go from there.

This quote is an example of why our franchise only had 3 losing seasons since 1995 when Riley took over as President and Coach.

"For me, it's not through the draft, because lottery picks are living a life of misery. That season is miserable. And if you do three or four years in a row to get lottery picks, then I'm in an insane asylum. And the fans will be, too. So who wants to do that?"

Only one option here, winning.

Well, let's not forget that LeBron James will become a free agent next season, if he chooses to go on that road. Pat Riley has started the recruiting process. There are also rumors of Kevin Durant and Oklahoma City looking for a sign-and-trade agreement. I firmly believe that those rumors will become a reality. After gathering Gragic, Wade, Bosh and Whiteside, Miami has to be among the three best destinations to acquire the services of Durant. Honestly, I do have great expectations for this upcoming season. "NBA teams using internal data are projecting the salary cap to jump to between $88 million and $92 million per team, sources told ESPN." Goran Dragic (16,125,000), Dwyane Wade (16,125,000), Chris Bosh ($23,741,060) and Hassan Whiteside (16,125,000) adds for a total of $72,116,060. Considering that the salary cap will jump to $92 million per team, even a maximun salary of $30 million for some one like Kevin Durant or LeBron James is not out of the question.

I lol'd hard reading the GB posts on this, how does this make Pat sound bitter? Then you have idiots talking like a team of Rio/Wade/Bron/CB/Pau couldn't win a championship this season. I just love the GB.

Well that team isn't beating whoever come out West IMO.

Rio is not a starting PG, Pau been sucking hard on defense and puts up empty stats. Bench would be weak.

But,

Dragon/Napier
Wade/TJ/Rio
Lebron/Walker/Ennis
Bosh/Mcbob
Whiteside/Bird

Would be a huge favorite to win it all IF HEALTHY. Monster team with no real weaknesses.

=======

Whatever, that's probably the last time we'll hear Pat mention Lebron...We've moved on as a franchise and as a fan base, we got a new exciting team to built with most pieces already here. It's over with.

We could've won with the team we had last year easily. If Bron hadn't cramped up, we could've easily had a 2-0 lead going back home. Even before that, had we played anybody else last year, we'd be sitting on a 3-Peat right now too. It took godlike performances from Dirk in the clutch and Spurs hitting anything and everything to beat us.

Rio was not returning if Lebron stayed. Pau Gasol (Targeted Asik first) and Trevor Ariza was a lock (Which i have repeated this numerous times), Riley had his eyes on others including Dragic. He had a plan to remodel that whole team. Coles would have likely started the season but was going to be trade bait period at the trading deadline. He was trying to trade Cole for Shumpert since the summer.

This is why Riley made that exit speech, he wanted Spo to change his scheme because Riley wanted to build a big efficient lineup (emphasized on rebounding). There was a chance we would have been;

PG: Dragic (Bledsoe), Napier
SG: Wade, Johnson
SF: James, Ariza
PF: Bosh, Beasley
C: Gasol (or Asik), Whiteside(maybe), Andersen

Not saying it would of happened but they were targeting this ideal lineup with these players in mind. I knew about Ariza and Gasol. I knew the Heat targeted Pheonix guards Bledsoe and Dragic. The Bledsoe/Dragic situation was very much like Elton Brand/Lamar Odom situation.

I do believe that A/C game had a lot to do with how bad the players played throughout the series. I experienced those conditions when i played in highschool.
