Where does Goran Dragic rank among NBA PGs?

I don't think this had been done before, and I wanted to take the temperature of Heat fans on this board. Obviously Dragic is a huge upgrade over what we had before, but how does he compare with the top PGs in the NBA when you factor in both offense and defense?

Hmm, no idea. Let's try it like this (random order)
Tier 1
CP3
Curry
Westbrook
Wall
Tier 2
Irving
Lillard
Teague
Tier 3
Conley
Lowry
Dragic
I'm sure I forgot some names, but I think it's safe to say he's at top 10, arguably top 8. That being said, in his MIP year I think he was top 5 pretty comfortably.

I'd hold my tongue on saying Lowry, Lillard, and Teague are better... but I might be making my judgement on their past playoff performances, so I'll wait til' next year

There are six guys I'd easily take over Dragic: Paul, Curry, Westbrook, Wall, Irving, and Conley. Lillard and Teague are debatable, but I'm thinking Lillard>Dragic>Teague. Never really been a huge Lowry fan.

In the 5-9 range.
You take Curry,Cp3,Russ,Wall comfortably over him but from there it's murky.

Yeah I have Lowry and Teague in the same tier as him since they both had great seasons (Lowry fell off a cliff a little after ASB and so did Teague towards the end of the season, but still). Lillard is also debatable to be a whole tier higher since all he does is score, but he does it really well and is extremely clutch.

I agree with this completely. After those four you mentioned, you have players who have very specific abilities so it's mostly about the fit and personal prefference.

I would take Dragic over any lead guard in the East outside of perhaps Irving and Wall. And the gap is not that big between he and Wall at all. Kyrie Irving clearly has another gear as a scorer as either of them, though.

He's a better finisher than any other guard in the NBA. Pick and pop is his bread and butter. His court vision is nice.
But he seems average in pick and rolls. He's also an average defender. Not as athletic as his peers. It could be chemistry but he kinda shies away from the fourth quarter when he should be shining with Wade.
He did not have his greatest weapon with him yet; Chris Bosh. So I have him as top 10 without Bosh.
With bosh?? *obamawipinghissweatpic*

Idk, Kyrie is a poor defender playing next to one of the best players on the planet on a stacked team.
He can score but that's about it. I wouldn't take Kyrie over Wall. Wall is a consistent 3pt shot away from being the best pg by miles in the NBA. His staple is defense, he's fast and athletic as all hell, he can play the pg position, and he's big, strong, and long for the position.

Dragic is a very good player, outside of Russ; Paul, and Curry, there aren't that many guys I'd clearly take over Dragic.

Curry
CP3
Westbrook
Wall
Conley
Lillard
Dragic
Jeff Teague tends to disappear a lot. Parker's getting old. Kyrie is unidimensional.
But they round up the Top 10.
Dragic is a great PG. But paying 20M to an almost 30 yr old PG, is that the way we wanna go?

Don't have much of a choice now.

I agree. If something better (or comparable) becomes available, he's a viable trade piece even with a huge contract.
Dragic on a better contract playing in another city doesn't do anything for us on the court or as a trade chip.

While Dragic is probably getting paid alot, he was by the best option to go with. I can't think of another player of his caliber that was available or that would be available. Lawson is on the block and might have a friendlier deal but he has DUI troubles and some lockerroom issues. Jennings is a 2016 free agent and tore his achilles. Knight is more of a shooting guard. Point guards weren't really going to be available for the next 2 years or so and we got the best one available.

Personally I would take Curry, Wall, Westbrook, Cp3, Conley (no particular order) over him.
Kyrie to me is a shooting guard, and looks good next to Lebron and a good defense. Kyrie's defense is pretty bad... And his health aint good for the most part, prolific scorer tho
I think he is 8-13 on some peoples lists. Depends really
But seeing Dragic be an excellent finisher, and be efficient, makes me pick him over most PGs besides the obvious ones
