The Dragic thread appears to have been well received, so I figured why not expand it to take the fanbase's temperature on each of our likely starting 5 ... one at a time ... since there is absolutely nothing going on in the basketball world until the draft rolls around.

So same parameters as the Dragic thread. Factoring in both offense and defense, where do you rank Whiteside among NBA Cs?

Top 5. Best in the East.

Lets stay humbled first. I think he is potentially the best C in the league, but doesn't have enough minutes logged to stake his claim yet. If he can mirror this success next season he is TOP 3 easily.

I think top 5 in terms of talent and his potential. In substance though, he does need to show the league he can do it for the full year. And he will. #Heatnation

You've been boasting about how he was in the same convo as Cousins not to long ago.

We're all excited at the prospect of Whiteside, let's see how he does this season. His TRAJECTORY is a top 3-5 center this upcoming season. However to play it completely safe he's definitely top 10 center.

My answer to this at this point is .... who cares!
Whiteside has lots of work to do starting with defensive consistency, post play and passing the ball out of the post. If he can perform like most of us expect him to then his ranking will take care of itself. Right now is pointless because he has yet to play more than 48 games in a season. Let's give the kid the time he needs.

In limited minutes I do think he can compete with any C. But, that doesn't mean I am ready to put him at the very top. He needs to prove this over the course of a full season before he can legitimately make TOP 10 list IMO. Next season, I do think he will be a TOP 3 C, but not right now.

Yeah it's half a year too soon to rank him high, after this year I do believe he'll be top 3 though.

Remains to be seen. Bosh will be back and he is going to get the most touches on the squad because of dragic and the pick & pop. But we are going to be playing faster.

But Bosh being back means more wiggle room for Hassan since teams can't crowd him anymore. So the shooting numbers may remain low, but the efficiency might skyrocket even further. McBob is a great distributor too so I'm looking for him to also feed Hassan.

If he averages 17/12/3 he'd be doing better than Marc Gasol and every other center in the nba. I'd rather see that happen than to predict it happening. His FT shooting will be greatly improved. I think he'll be over 70% there. His hand won't be jacked up anymore. There's a lot of factors concerning his potential. I just don't want to get too excited.

Development on this team sucks. I would have run a lot of plays through him just to see what he can do. Spo keeps the bar too low imo and doesn't really give these guys a chance to get past it. Lets see how it goes this year.
