You're way off.

1) Nobody forced the big 3 to take less, they chose to. And they choose Mike Miller personally.

2) They got 2 rings out of it. I can guarantee you those 2 championship are worth way more to them then the cut they took (Both in actually $$$ income that came in non-salary ways, and in overall satisfaction and happiness)

3) Miller himself wanted to get traded, and kept asking to traded. He wasn't happy here because his role was too small (even when healthy).

4) He wasn't useful as a player to us. I doubt we would've won any more games with him then we did without him. Age and injuries claimed him. (he's not playing for the Cavs either).

5) we actually attempted to trade Miller for a helpful piece, but we we'ren't able to. (because the entire league knew he wasn't really useful anymore). So instead of letting him ride the bench, we saved 17Mil$ and amnestied him. If we didn't try to trade him, your point would have been more valid.

6) The discount they agreed to is no where near 10% of their "career earnings". not even close. It's much less then half of that. Also I wouldn't overstate the financial impact that discount had on their lives. when you're struggling or even for the middle class, every $ count. It makes a real different in your lifestyle and what you afford. When you made 200,000,000$, the importance of each Mil lessen. Nor they or their children or their grandchildren will never feel that "financial hit".
They will enjoy the championships forever though.

7) **** happens. Nobody expected Miller to become a non-factor when the team was formed. But he did. So front office adjusted and made a judgment call. Was I ecstatic about it? no. Nobody was. But it really wasn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things. not even for Miller (who still got his money) not for the big 3 themselves.

8) Part of the reason Bosh got that big contract from us this summer was we wanted to compensate him for his sacrifice (more of a role and spotlight one then a financial sacrifice, but still). We took care of him.
LeBron and Wade made a HUGE, and I mean a huge amount of money of winning those 2 championships, even from a strictly dollars and cents viewpoint, ignoring the happiness and satisfaction factors, they made a brilliant decision by taking the pay cut they did.

9) Riley is not an idiot. Trading Miller was floating around for a long while. everyone was aware of it. Including Miller who wanted to get traded and the big 3. Nobody was shocked when he got amnestied after we weren't able to trade him. The big 3 didn't feel "cheated". they weren't shock. Pat made sure of it way before making the move. They might not have been celebrating the move, but again - it wasn't that much of a big deal to anyone involved. **** just happened, they moved on. So should you.

Where in this narrative do you fit in that Beasley was set to make $5M in 2010-11, then after he was dumped Mike Miller was signed starting at $5M?

Where in this narrative do you account for Udonis Haslem signing for at least $10M less with the Heat than with Dallas or the Nuggets?

The Big 3 took paycuts but it was to play with EACH OTHER. Wade took a little less for UD and both UD/MM took less to sign.

As said before, MM got his money AND he wanted out.

Besides, Lebron didn't lose any sleep when his boy DWade or UD lost out on millions last year when he took off. Even if you want to believe the story that he was mad at the Heat/Arison, what is the excuse for costing your "brothers" money? He could have told them he was checking out, but he kept them in the dark too. Well he didn't keep everyone in the dark. JJ & MM weren't in the dark. Ray Allen either.

First of all Lebron and Wade didn't ask for Mike, Pat wanted Mike. Pat was after Mike since the 2009 draft. So don't think all of a sudden Lebron told Pat to get Mike. Pat moved Mike so they could resign Lebron (not knowing Lebron had decided to leave back in 2011). Did they become friends with Mike sure, but Mike was Pat's guy.

It was the right move, LeBron was leaving anyways.

So the chances of LeBron sticking around would have been a lot higher if Miller was still on the team? Is that what this thread is getting at?

I think we would have beat the Spurs last year with Miller

Let it go. The only way Lebron would have stayed was if we won last year. We didn't. Mike Miller wouldn't have changed that

I didn't realize that the 2.5M cut equaled to 10M after those years! Yeah, they did take less to bring in help & when MM got amnestied, we all knew the Big 3 didn't like it, but I didn't see it from that view until now, that the money they lost over the 4 years superseded the tax hit Micky woulda had to pay. I can understand the frustration. And this is the wrong sport to play hardball with the superstars. The superstars in the NBA are more important than the other sports

Let's hope Wade doesn't feel too jaded and decide to do something

This incident definitely changed Lebrons perception of Arison imo. Would he have left regardless of this incident? Maybe. Did they not get rid of Joel and Miller but they did not replace them with anybody at all. Now you might say they replaced them with Beasley and Toney Douglas, but lets be serous here. And i believe Heat did not even use their MMLE aswell, if i am not mistaken. They even surrendered Philly's pick to trade Joel, even though that pick might not amount to anything.

These were cost cutting moves made inorder to retool the next year. But if the Big three all were to get the Max salary this year, how were the heat going to retool the roster properly? Who were they going to sign with a very limited money they had, or maybe Heat were expecting another pay cut from the big three.
Bottom line is Heat took Lebrons talents for granted and rode him too hard. As far as i can remember they relied on LBJ to do everything from offense to defense and failed to bring in somebody in the form of younger Battier who would do that little dirty work.

There was no one to replace them with. They were hoping to pick up a mid year guy like Birdman. That person turned out to be Caron Butler who wanted guaranteed playing time which the Heat wouldn't give so he went elsewhere.

The rules were changed so that the Heat couldn't maneuver. So hard choices had to be made. They could have kept Miller and had no room to add new options later in the year, or amnesty him and stay flexible. They chose the latter and chose rightly imo. It just didn't work out to our favor.

But again, this whole business about Lebron being upset is BS. Miller wanted out. He even put his house up for sale like 2 years before over talk of amnesty.

I think it had to do with more things as well, like aging of wade/bosh. And Lebron replaced them with younger Love/Irving in Cleveland.

Keeping MM wouldnt have changed anything, Lebron is all about winning..and would quit any time he doesnt see team feel to compete anymore.
